Chubbuck, Idaho is a small town in the US state of Idaho. It was founded in 1907 by J.D. Chubb and named for him. The population was 1,624 at the 2010 census. The town is located on the Snake River in north-central Idaho, about south of its sister city, Coeur d'Alene. It is bordered by Price County to the east, Love County to the northwest, and Salmon County to the west. The streams that flow through Chubbuck are called either Willamette or Clearwater rivers after these respective watercourses that cross it from east to west. In 1907 J.D Chubb founded Chubbuck with a tract of land he had acquired from his father-in-law Abram Sibley in Price County, then part of Oregon Territory (now California). At first there were just two buildings: a blacksmith shop and a flour mill which turned out emigrant cloths for export back home during those early days before railroads came into being. In 1912 Chubb donated another tract of land to establish what would become known as "Chubb Park". This park offers nature trails and picnic areas as well as an observation deck overlooking clearwater river valley below which can be seen miles away even when covered by snow during winter months! During World War I (1918-1919), many local men served their country including John Dobbins who enlisted in Company C 2nd Battalion 7th Infantry Regiment stationed at Fort Benton munitions plant outside Boise City; Oscar Alderbach who enlisted with Company F 3rd Battalion 5th Infantry Regiment stationed at Fort George Wright near Payette; Lewis Wickersham who enlisted with Company G 2nd Battalion 11th Cavalry Regiment stationed at Fort Hall; and Leroy Hargrave who enlistd with Company H 8th Cavalry Regiment stationed at Weiser Army Ammunition Plant northeast of Boise City where he became one of only 4 Americans killed during that war! After the war many residents returned home while others moved away looking for new opportunities or simply couldn't afford to leave again because prices for farm implements had increased so much since they'd been back home! From 1926 until his death in 1957 J.D.'s son JD Chubb took over management both of Chubbuck Park and also ran several stores includingJD's Hardware & Farm Supplies which continued operating until 1984 when it closed its doors forever after serving customers throughout central Idaho from Rickshaw Row on Center Street across from Building One up until it was destroyed by fire on July 16, 1984! JD's widow Lois later reopened her store under new ownership but closed it again within 6 years due primarily to lack of business competition following deregulation which began happening right around that time!! In 1997 plans were made to build a shopping mall adjacent to downtown known as "The Village" however this never came true though some development still takes place here today such as apartments/condos/a movie theater etc! Today most everyone knows about "the Strip" downriver where all sorts of businesses used to situated such as restaurants/bars/hundreds if not thousands more individual shops!!!

Chubb Civic Center was built in 1957 and is a National Register of Historic Places property with significance for its architecture and history including contributions from local designers Don Menzel and Harry Weisman among others
