In 1881–1882 three families from Fort Hall (now Nampa) arrived with twelve horses to set up trade with these natives before leaving for good in 1883 after being informed that new United States government policies would not allow them to live near Fort Hall anymore. In 1886 John Wesley Powell Explored and charted what is now called "Powell Peak" on his way up Elkhorn River Canyon which he thought may be a possible route for wagon trains traveling between Great Lakes ports and points northward including Portland or Seattle via Lake Superior crossing into Canada before continuing down through Yellowstone National Park into California etc.. This area became known as "The Gold Rush" because many people sought gold prospecting there during this time period across much of North America including parts of today's Utah and Colorado states; however no coins or other physical evidence have ever been found that confirms this story however another popular version says that local rich men prospected there because they could see potential coal seams located under downtown streets which had recently been platted out; some sources even claim that gold was discovered at various intersections around town but nothing came off when surface exploration was made so any claims made about finding GOLD are considered HEMPEDIA!
