The citizens of Boise City founded their first school in 1887. In 1907, a group of businessmen from Moscow established a company to build an express train between Boise and Seattle. When construction started on the line, townspeople offered free water to drive away workers who had gathered near downtown for lunch. In 1912 construction began on what would become State Capitol Avenue which led directly to Downtown Boise; today’s Capitol Hill neighborhood was then developed as housing for city officials and other government employees when it opened its doors to the public in 1938. During World War II many residents left their homes to serve in the military or take up arms against fascism; like so many others, they found themselves transplanted again when war ended and they could return home again without fear of deportation or retribution from local authorities if they should choose not do so. One resident recalled how “we were all just glad that it wasn’t our country that got bombed instead” – signifying how wartime relocation had little impact upon daily life within typical American communities with similar demographics until long after hostilities ceased elsewhere around the world

In 1863, Brigham Young founded the LDS church here on land donated by businessman James W. Overton. The city was named for General George Armstrong Custer, who died fighting at Little Bighorn in July 1865. In 1893, two brothers started a small grocery store on First Avenue NE called Trolley Stop Grocery Company which still stands today as one of Boise's most iconic buildings. At that time it was unusual for cities to have their own Post office so mail services were contracted out to nearby towns such as Pocatello (now part of Gorham) and Twin Falls (then known as McCallum). In 1907 construction began on a new bridge over Snake River which became one of the largest bridges built in America at that time and still stands today as one of Boise's landmarks. This bridge also served as a transportation hub connecting downtown with surrounding suburbs and rural areas across Snake River Valley
Boise City, Idaho was founded on December 12, 1887 by James W. Boise and John C. Pemberton. The city grew rapidly due to its location in the Rocky Mountains and its access to water resources. In 1925, the city became an incorporated town. In 1959, Boise City annexed the adjacent unincorporated community of Nampa.
