The city's population peaked at over 50,000 in 1960 but gradually declined due to relocation of businesses and citizens to other cities in Idaho and elsewhere during that decade. In 1984, Boise City merged with Star Lake to form the new Boise metropolitan area which has since grown larger than ever with over 200 municipalities within its boundaries. Today, Boise City is one of America's fastest growing cities with initiatives such as urban agriculture programs that are helping to revive downtown areas near major universities and shopping malls
Boise City is located in the Sawtooth National Forest, and is home to an interesting history dating back to 1871. The city was founded by George Stephenson in 1871 as a small town on the edge of what is now Boise County, Idaho. At first, the town was known as Newcastle, after George Stephenson's home town in Scotland. The name was changed in honor of General Edwin A. Marshall, who had fought during World War 1 and later served as the commander of United States Forces In Europe. Boise City has seen some drastic changes over the years; it has been occupied by both Native Americans and Spaniards throughout its history. In 1907, when a group of Mormon missionaries arrived in Boise City from Utah, they quickly established a Printing Office and Press here that continues to be operational today. It wasn't until 1912 that the first post office moved into its current location at 5th Avenue and South State Street. The city saw another boom during World War II; thanks to wartime production totals which reached up to 135% above normal levels, Boise City became known as "the breadbasket of America." However, postwar growth halted due to low population demand relative to available land and resources. In fact, only 2% of all business activity took place within Boise City limits during 1945-1946; even though it had experienced an overall increase in population by 20%. After World War II ended, there were several attempts at revitalization before finally successpiring with passage of the Local Government Code Amendments (LGCAs) in 1949 which gave cities greater autonomy within their own borders while still requiring voter approval for any major structural modifications or alterations thereto. This led to growth once again for Boise City; although slower than previously imagined due largely to questions about how local officials could effectively manage such expansive change (see: Jeff Cooley mayoral term). Since then, various incarnations of city government have been attemptsto take hold including direct democracy (elected officials directly responsible for their citizens), council-manager government (a form of government where mayors are appointed instead of elected), citizen initiated processes (including referenda), rapid transit authority/planning/implementation ( Rapid Transit Authority ), mixed use development TODs (TODs meaning "titled areas", typically redevelopment projects completed withoutCity Council involvement ), independent governing body model (similarly characterized as Mayor First Governance ) - each resulting with varying degrees of success or failure according to individual goals or expectations set forth by respective proponents or opponents.. Today's Boise City contains over 13700 residents who enjoy access toponymy rich cultural experiences & diverse economic opportunities resulting from its proximity urban sprawl & irrigated agriculture

In the late 1800s, scientists and engineers began to develop new optical accessories. One early development was the use of catadioptric lenses. These lenses used a mirror to prune light waves so that they appeared as one object on an image sensor. This allowed for improved images with greater clarity and detail than could be achieved using traditional optics. Additionally, mechanical adaptors were developed that allowed for addition or subtraction of focal length in order to improve image quality.
Boise City is a city in the U.S. state of Idaho, located on the Boise River. As of 2010 the population was 54,569 and it is the second-most populous city in Idaho after Moscow. The city is bordered by Eagle County to the north,208th District to the east, Kootenai County to the south and west, and Nampa Valley to the northwest. It lies at an altitude of 498 feet (148 m). The area that would become Boise City was first settled as early as 1872 when Brigham Young's Mormon Battalion founded a trading post on what is now First Street in downtown Boise. The post served as a stopping point for goods brought overland from Salt Lake City and across Snake River Canyon before being abandoned in 1876 when wagon trains were cut off by Chinese bandits close to where First Street now stands. In 1888, A&P Store founder Julius Rosenwald donated land near what would become Meridian Avenue and Fourth Street for what would eventually be called Rosenwald Boulevard. In 1912, President Theodore Roosevelt designated part of Meridian Avenue as "Presidential Drive" in honor of his predecessor James K. Polk who had died just two months earlier while serving out his last term as president. In 1932, duringWorld War II, Boise was one of many cities bombed by Japanese forces during their Attack on Pearl Harbor which left much destruction throughout central Idaho including parts of downtown Boise which were gutted by firebombing raids conducted by Japan's Imperial Army Air Force (I-AAF). The bombing took place over an eight day period starting May 6th until May 11th with damage done primarily to commercial buildings and transportation infrastructure within Downtown Boise itself with little or no damage done to homes or other civilian targets outside of key business districts such as Pioneer Square and Main Street North. As a result of this bombing campaign both physical damages sustained inside Downtown Boise as well as significant losses suffered by businesses within its immediate surroundings came about which continue up through present day; today's version of "Downtown Boise". This collectively affected over 1 million people directly or indirectly who lived within five blocks or less thereof at some point during World War II - more than any other location in the country! Today marks Memorial Day weekend each year when many people return back into Downtown Boise so far unscathed thanks largely to modern air conditioning/heating systems put into place following bombings like those experienced during WWII! Today's Downtown Boise has seen some resurgence with new development taking form especially around nearby Easley Park located just eastbound on Meridian Avenue between 4th & 5th Streets NW; home also currently (~2013) to world-renowned retail store Macy’s flagship store having moved from its original location adjacent Capitol Mall back in 1994 prior to that store’s demolition completely making way for yet another major high end retail complex!
Boise City was founded in 1882 by General George Armstrong Custer, during the American Civil War. The city was named for General Custer's cavalry unit, the 4th Idaho Cavalry.
