However, things started to turn around for Boise City followingthe war when federal funding became available for redevelopment projects throughout Western US cities struggling with economic decline caused by mechanization and other factors such as Interstate 80 being completed through those regions instead of going through Spokane or Portland which could have supported larger populations.
