In 1903, a company called The Citizens Armory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania developed the first gun sling. It consisted of a leather strap with a metal loop at its end that could be worn around the waist. Guns were placed in the sling so that they were pulled up to the shoulder and then released by pulling down on the metal loop.

Today’s skyline can be seen all along Fourth Avenue NW from just east of Vine Street NW until it meets Interstate 84 near Lewiston Drive NE
