The Blackfoot Indians are a Native American tribe located in Idaho. They were first brought over from the Great Lakes region by the fur traders in the 17th century. The Blackfoot Tribe has a population of about 4,000 people. The Blackfoot Tribe is considered to be one of the most isolated tribes in North America. The tribe has a rich culture that reflects their history and heritage. The Blackfoot Tribe was founded by Chief Sekani in 1876. Sekani led his group of warriors against an attack by the United States Army on their village near present day Boise, Idaho. After they defeated the Americans, Sekani established himself as leader of his people and began to develop their traditional ways of life. He also developed a strong relationship with the US government and became known as "the father of Indian gaming." In 1924, Chief Sekani passed away and was buried at Fort Hall National Monument in South Dakota. Today, there are still remnants of Sekani's original village located within present-day Boise, Idaho; it is called Sihkonpah Village Park. The blackfeet nation continues to live among its own today through ceremonies such as powwows and horseback rides around their sacred sites year-round.

The Blackfoot tribe is thought to have originated from Siberia and arrived in this area about 1500 BC. The Pahratna people, a related group of the Blackfoot, also inhabited this region before European settlement began.
