In 1885, L.D. Hardesty of Blackfoot, Idaho, patented a system for manufacturing optical accessories called the "Hardesty-Hardesty Telescope." In 1902, he and his son developed the "Hardship" microscope and lens system. The Hardesty Optics Company was founded in 1903 by L.D.'s son John Hardesty and his wife Jennie. The company continued to produce high quality optics until it went out of business in 1971.
Blackfoot is a town located in Clearwater County, Idaho, United States. The population was 2,834 at the 2010 census. Blackfoot is the smallest community in Idaho and it lies on the eastern edge of the Sawtooth National Park. The first people to inhabit what is now Blackfoot were the Hidatsa. They were relocated here by Indian agent David Thompson in 1875 during his exploration of eastern Oregon and British Columbia. By 1888, about 60 families had settled around what is now Blackfoot. In 1901, a post office was established at Blackfoot with Lillian Murchison as the first postmaster. At that time there were only a few buildings and no permanent inhabitants; most of the original settlers came from nearby Clearwater County where they lived on large ranches or ranched for subsistence farming. In 1907, construction began on US-19 which would connect Blackfoot with other communities in Clearwater County. The road became operational in 1915 and has served as an important artery for transportation within and between Clearwater County since then. A local school district was created in 1925 when all of Clearwater County was unified under one government structure. The territory currently includes much of Clearwater County east of Highway 95 but also includes parts of Twin Falls and Anaconda Counties to the south In 1955, Businessman David Sorenson donated land to help promote agriculture in central Idaho through research projects.; this land eventually became known as Sawtooth National Park
A few days ago, I received an email from a reader in the United States who asked me about some optical accessories that I had been using for many years. These special glasses were designed to correct vision problems caused by poor light balance and poor eyesight. The general used them for military purposes and also enjoyed watching plays and documentaries with his new glasses. In 1897, President McKinley bought four pairs of spectacles from John Sutter. These glasses were specifically designed to improve the president's economy of motion pictures and stage shows. The president also wore them during ceremonial occasions such as inauguration ceremonies and state visits. By 1912, President Woodrow Wilson had acquired a total of 10 pairs of Spectacle Glasses from various merchants in New York City. These glasses were worn while he visited different museums and businesses throughout the city. In 1916, Mr. Wilson ordered another set of Spectacle Glasses made especially for use at a White House dinner honoring German Kaiser Wilhelm II. In 1928, President Franklin D Roosevelt purchased two sets of Spectacle Glasses from Jovanovich BrothersEyeglasses Co., Incorporated in New York City due to his health concerns about bad eye sight during wartime combat conditions in Europe. Since the early 1800s when these devices were originally invented, they have become an integral part of daily life for many people all over the world!

At first they were welcomed by the local Native American population, but after some friction with their new neighbors they eventually withdrew from contact with them. In 1893 however, a group of settlers who had fled goldmining operations in California discovered oil reserves within the region and started production which led to increased competition for resources between the Native Americans and settlers. This conflict led to violence which ultimately caused many members of the Blackfoot Nation to leave for safety. However, many continued to live among Native Americans until 1924 when they finally received federal recognition as an Indian Tribe under Ulysses S Grant’s administration. Since then there have been sporadic efforts by various tribes across America to rejoin forces with their historic brethren from Idaho but it has been highly difficult due to cultural differences and geographic separation
