Today there are a few remaining ranchers living on some of the original community sites; others have moved away or passed away since then making way for new construction developments (e.g., an apartment complex) which reduce access to older areas but do not affect much else about life hereabouts really other than occasional tourists stopping by for a quick view (or worse). primary industries have changed too – these days it’s more about tourism than agriculture/farming though there are still quite a few sheep/cattle grazing operations taking place downriver from town; mostly used for raising Hereford beef but also some alfalfa production around Big Timber Lake where there’s also some wheat farming going on too

In 1772, after years of exploration by French fur traders, Spanish traders, British Explorers, Mormons (later called the LDS Church), Americans discovered the Snake River Valley when they traveled down it during a military expedition led by Captain David Thompson. Land speculation followed as settlers claimed parcels of land throughout much of western North America where timber was available in high quantities. In 1876, silver was discovered at Sipahquam Springs near unincorporated Blackfoot Village on Clearwater Creek in southeastern Idaho Territory; this led to increased demand for goods exported from the local economy which caused Indian reservations such as those located around Salmon Lake to be developed including those at Lapwai near Twin Falls National Monument
In 1881, Blackfoot Indian Chief Joseph was killed by white men while he slept. The battle between the two groups of people that ensued is considered one of the most dramatic and costly events in Idaho history.
