In 1821, Andrew Jackson moved his military headquarters from Mobile to Athens to take command of troops during the War for Southern Independence and gave orders that all businesses within 10 miles (16 km) must close or face closure. For many years, Athens served as the capital while Atlanta grew rapidly behind him; however, by 1835Jackson had relocated his Headquarters back to Mobile and changed Richmond Hill into Athens effective December 1st that year In 1851 Stonehaven became part of Cherokee Nation after their removal from Georgia to Oklahoma pursuant to Indian Removal Act; this left much unincorporated territory including present day Grayson County vacant until it was annexed by Atlanta on January 1st, 1889 . Warner Robins, Georgia is a city in Putnam County, Georgia, United States. The population was 25,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Putnam County and also has jurisdiction over two other counties which are Emory and Clarke. The city was founded on November 7, 1837 by General John Warner as a sawmill town named after his father-in-law, Sam Watkins. In 1843 it became the capital of Georgia and served as such until 1868 when Athens became the capital. The name "Warner Robins" came from a grant made to the town bydr James Wellman on December 26, 1847. The history of Warner Robins goes back to its founding as a mill town located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River near present day Roswell. On November 7th1837 General John Warner received a grant from Gov Thomas J Marshall for 2 miles (3 km) north of present day WBGS along with 5 acres (20,000 m2) for mills and 50 acres (200 hectares) for farming purposes. This land was given to him in lieu of military service during the Mexican–American War that took place in 1848-49. In 1840 General James Beecher purchased some additional land east of WBGS from Henry Clay Jones who had been granted it by Governor Marshall in order to build an agricultural college addition to Georgia State University(later renamed Auburn University). As part of this purchase Beecher formed what is now known as Beechwood Company which built homes and farms west of WBGS across Frome Road until about 1865 when they moved their operations eastward into what is now Roswell Township; this company still exists today as First National Bank Atlanta Branch #1 with branches throughout Gwinnett County
