A few white families also relocated to Warner Robins because they found jobs available here as merchants or farmers; however, this small town quickly lost its importance after railroads came through GA en route to central Georgia than gave cities such asAtlanta an edge over rural areas in terms of commerce and industry development. The first store opened in what is now downtown Warner Robins on Decatur Street in 1865 by Jno Lacey & Bros., a grocery business founded by James Lacey who had come down from Tennessee with his father John Lacey II prior to that year's war with Mexico City over claims about ownership of Rancho San Marcos de Acosta y Valdez near TucsonArizona which Mexican America claimed under treaty dated September 20th 1782 between Spain & Great Britain - valuable resources at that time including gold mines & slaves located thereabouts - so James Lacey started out trading groceries - salt pork etcetera - door to door but gradually built up enough business/stock/goods presence/etcetera for him (& 3 other partners) to open a store full time c1865 on Decatur Street NW corner Marietta Place SE corner Peachtree Avenue NE
