In Villa Rica, Georgia, the history of firearms is intertwined with that of the people. Gun Owners of America (GOA) has been working to preserve and promote gun rights in this community since 1978. GOA is a nonprofit organization that defends Second Amendment rights through education and activism. The first guns were brought over by English settlers in 1733. The town was founded on a small piece of land near what is now downtown Villa Rica. The area became known for its farming and cattle ranching industries until World War II when the population increased to 1,200. During the 1940s, Villagerica began to become involved in shooting competitions as part of patriotic programming designed to show off their Section 8 housing developments to other parts of Georgia. In 1949, Castle Mountain Armory opened its doors as the first civilian gun store in Villa Rica. This shop served as a training ground for future local police officers and firefighters as well as supplying handguns for military service during World War II and Korea. Castle Mountain Armory closed its doors in 1984 but it wasn't until 2000 that GOA began working towards preserving and promoting gun rights at this location within the community again; they renovated and reopened the building under new management name Citizens Defense League (CDL). The current property owner, Randy Sellers-Martinz, purchased both old buildings in 2006 from CDL Management LLC after years of fundraising efforts by GOA members who had pooled their resources together into an effort known as "Villa Rica Restoration." While Proceeds From Crime still manages aspects of day-to-day operations at Castle Mountain Armory - such as security screenings for customers - all proceeds from sales at Villa Rica Restoration go towards support activities associated with GOA's mission: defending Second Amendment rights!
Villa Rica is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia. The population was 919 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The first recorded mention of Villa Rica dates back to 1785 when it was called White Settlement and was located on the present day site of Villa Rica High School. In 1801, John Taylor established a mill on the Chattahoochee River and named it after his friend, James Villalobos, who had been killed in Mexico City during the Mexican-American War. In 1820, General Andrew Jackson visited Villa Rica while he was campaigning in south Georgia and ordered all white settlers to leave their homes. The following year, Jackson built a military fort at Villa Rica which served as an outpost against Native American attacks. In 1865, during the American Civil War, General Nathan Bedford Forrest moved his headquarters from Chattanooga to Villa Rica and began planning operations for his Confederate army under the leadership of Jefferson Davis. On July 5th of that year, Forrest's forces attacked Union troops at Fort McAllister near Villa Rica with disastrous results; most of the garrison were killed or captured before they could enter into combat. Villa Rica is a small town located in the U.S. state of Georgia, about 25 miles northwest of Savannah. As of the 2010 census, its population was 516. It is part of the Augusta-Athens-Macon Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Villa Rica was James Mahoney, who arrived in 1820 from Ireland and named it after his home country, Ireland. The first post office was established in 1824, but no village grew up around it until 1854 when a group of investors bought land near what is now Villa Rica High School and decided to name it after them. In 1876, a sawmill and gristmill were built on the current site of Villa Rica Elementary School; these mills continue to operate today as part of theVillage Rica Manufacturing Company LLC which also includes several other businesses such as an auto dealership, a grocery store, and a hotel/motel. In 1906 Villanica (later called Nacoochee) plantation was sold by Judge Augustus Griggs to Edwin Auld for $10 per acre; this plantation is now known as Dooly Plantation Museum & Research Center which offers tours daily 10am-4pm during daylight hours only (closed Monday). Edmund Peebles purchased Dooly Plantation from Judge Auld in 1917 for $1 million dollars ($102 million adjusted dollars) making him one of the richest men in Georgia at that time Dooly Plantation has been preserved as part of the Dooly Mansion Museum since 1959 while other parts have been used for various purposes including housing units at Sunnyside Community College and Presbyterian Hospital since 1978. Today Dooly Plantation still contains many original features such as: an authentic slave cabin complete with slave quarters and slave ovens; four Chimpanzee statues carved out of solid granite blocks; extensive gardens with over seventy varieties of trees and plants; two manor houses - one brick with stone foundation and another frame with marble facade - each measuring over 30 feet wide x 30 feet long x 15 feet high; five huge cypresses - some reaching 100 feet tall It's interesting to note that although there are many different types or structures found throughout Villa Rica history there are also certain core values or themes that remain constant across all villages: community involvement through charitable work, strong sense thereof due to close family relationship between founders/owners/administrators etc.; education through local academy which often exposed young villagers to more opportunities than they would have otherwise had access too Villanica played an important role both militarily (1860s – 1870)and politically during Reconstruction period 1865-1915 providing homeschooled children with leadership experience who later participated in state government services
