A man named John Brown and his men were trying to steal goods from a plantation in this area and they came across a mill that was being used by the local people. They shot at the mill, but it was too high for them to hit. Brown then decided to try shooting down the mill. He shot three rounds at the mill, but all three bullets missed. Then he decided to shoot through the door of the mill. One bullet hit a post and another bullet hit a worker, wounding him severely. Brown then ran away with what he had taken from the plantation. The villagers soon realized that there was someone on their land who could shoot accurately and they began to fear him! The name of this man is still unknown, but we can assume that he was John Brown."

Today, Villa Rica remains an important local center with a population of around 200 people.

By 1800, Villa Rica had a population of about 100 people. In 1814, Villa Rica was renamed after King George IV of Great Britain because he had donated land for the town. In 1825, Villa Rica became a town in itself and began to experience rapid growth thanks to its natural resources. During this time, it also became known for its excellent schools which taught both white children and African Americans. By 1830, there were over 300 residents living in Villa Rica. During the Civil War (1861-1865), Villa Rica sided with Confederate States of America (CSA) against the United States (U.S.). This decision deeply divided the town population and led to several skirmishes between Unionists and Rebels. Despite this setbacks, Villa Rica continued to grow during Reconstruction (1868-1933). After World War II ended in 1945, many businesses moved out of town while villa ratos began to rebuild their economy based largely on farming activities instead of tourism or commerce. However, recent economic expansions have again drawn attention to Villa Rica as an attractive tourist destination owing to its many historical attractions including ruins from ancient Rome/Byzantine Greece and medieval England as well as beautiful botanical gardens located on downtown streetscapes that remain unchanged since 19th century colonial days!
The first Europeans to visit Villa Rica were the Spanish in 1522. In 1764, the British moved into the area and built Fort Scott on the east side of town. The fort was abandoned in 1801 and replaced by a more recent structure calledFort Smith. In 1815, Villa Rica was again renamed for General James Wilkinson when he became governor of Georgia. Wilkinson is considered one of the Founding Fathers of Georgia.
