In 1892, a group of Englishmen named William Hinton and John A. Campbell designed and built the first binoculars in Villa Rica. These glasses were made from two pieces of glass that were joined together with a hinge at the back. The eyeglasses were used to view objects up close and could be worn as sunglasses. The popularity of binoculars spread throughout Europe, but it was in America that they really took off. In 1894, George Washington Kennicott developed a design for a new type of binocular called the Kennicottoscope. This instrument allowed users to see things up close without having to wear glasses. By 1897, there were over 1,500 different types of binoculars available on the market! Binoculars remained popular until World War II when they became very important during the Battle of Britain because they allowed troops to map out targets on distant battlefields using only their sight and hearing!

They built several large houses on their property as well as a school and a post office. During World War II, Villa Rica was one of the few communities in Georgia that actively aided the war effort. Many residents donated food, clothing, or tools to help with the war effort. In 1951, Villa Rica got its own television station which helped increase pop culture awareness in the area. In recent years, many new homes have been built on the land around Villa Rica and it is still home to some of the most popular restaurants and cafes in town.
Villa Rica is a small town in Georgia, located on the Chattahoochee River. The population was 1,856 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Valdosta-Rome Cobb County metropolitan area. The history of Villa Rica can be traced back to 1824 when General James Wilkinson built a cabin here as a summer home for himself and his family. After some time, Wilkinson's daughter married William Hickey, who founded a post office in Villa Rica in 1829. In 1835, Hickey's son built the first schoolhouse in Villa Rica. Over time, other families also established themselves here and by 1860, Villa Rica had a population of over 100. In 1916, villager Fannie Burch donated land to form what is now the Villagra Foundation which sponsors arts and culture programs in local schools across Valdosta County. The popularity of binoculars slowly began to increase after the war ended though with a few exceptions such as Soviet Russia which continued to make their own versions until the early 21st century. There are now many types of binoculars available on the market including those designed for hunting or outdoor use as well as those made specifically for sightseeing or astrophotography. The history of binoculars is reflective of humanity itself; from small but important tools used by farmers and fishermen to sophisticated devices used by scientists and explorers. With so many different types available today, it is easy to see why they continue to be popular despite their occasional dangers.

In 1801, Villa Rica was incorporated as a county seat. The county seat moved to nearby Decatur in 1881 and then to Athens in 1929. Villa Rica is now a ghost town with only a few buildings remaining from its heyday as a commercial center.
