He stored his firearms here until 1938 when he moved them to his current location on Main Street in Vidalia. From 1938-1975, this company produced assault rifles forGeorgia's military forces under the name Marlin Firearms Corporation (MFC). In 1975, MFC was bought by Colt Industries Incorporated (CIN) and ceased production of assault rifles entirely; however, some MARLIN pistols still remain beingproduced today under different names
Vidalia, Georgia is a small town located in the Southeast region of the United States. The population was 5,878 at the 2010 census and it is part of the Vidalia, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located on the southern edge of the Altamaha County seat of Athens. The first people to arrive in Vidalia were Anglo-Saxon farmers who founded a trading post there in 1802. In 1815, a group of Scotsmen settled there and started a winery that remains one of the most successful in Georgia today. In 1821, General James Ewell established Fort Moultrie here as part of his failed attempt to recapture Savannah from Native Americans. After Ewell's death in 1825, control over Vidalia passed from British to American hands until it was returned to Britain after World War II. In 1865, Aiken County was formed from portions of Cobb and Fulton counties and Vidalia became its county seat. During Reconstruction following Reconstruction era (1865-1877), many African Americans moved into Vidalia during this time period as land was available for them near Athens and other cities during this time period. Most notably, James Meredith moved to Vidalia from Atlanta in 1968 with his Marxist political movement Unemployed Workers Movement while students at Southern University protested against segregation laws at historically black universities across America demonstrations called Black Power rallies taking place throughout America throughout 1968 which later became known as Black Monday

Vidalia is located on the Savannah River between Savannah and Brunswick Counties. The original name of Vidalia was English Settlement No. 3, but it changed to Vidalia after American Revolutionary War general George Rogers Clark's visit in 1781. Maclean bought the store from the Scottish immigrants and renamed it "Maclean's." This store stood until 1912 when it was destroyed by a fire. The town of Vidalia, located in the now-defunct balloting district of Jasper, was founded by Col. James Robertson in 1803 as a small log settlement on the Chattahoochee River. In 1813, Robertson and his family moved to what is now Vidalia from a nearby farm and began to build a sawmill and other commercial enterprises. The town grew rapidly during the antebellum period, with an influx of new settlers and businesses. By 1851, Vidalia had a population of 2,500 people and was one of Georgia's largest towns. In 1865, Vidalia became the capital of Georgia following its incorporation as a state capital. During the Reconstruction era (1868-1877), Vidalia played an important role in the development of its city government and economy. In 1870, it became the first municipality in Georgia to be chartered as a dry county under the terms of the General Appropriations Act (20 Statutes 598). By 1881, Vidalia hadgrownto nearly 10,000 people and was one of Georgia's most prosperous cities. However, during World War I (1914-18), local resources were used to support military service rather than civilian concerns; this caused social unrest that led to violence in 1917-1920. Afterward, Vidalia experienced rapid growth as a result of suburbanization and gentrification; however, some aspects of its past remain relevant today such as its strong African American community or its history with prohibitionism
