In 1865 local entrepreneur Augustus Woodward built a large millinery business on Main Street called Woodward’s Millinery store which continued operation until 1920 when it closed due to changing times economy – becoming home instead to many smaller businesses over that period including two grocery stores before closing again in 1992 as well as several apartments over that time frame In recent years Union City has experienced some resurgence both economically and visibly with efforts being made to promote tourism within its boundaries Today Union City remains an important community located within Fulton County with strong economic ties to both its neighboring communities as well as Atlanta proper - home to over 750 thousand residents making it one of metropolitan Atlanta's most populous municipalities
