In Union City, Georgia, the history of firearms is intertwined with the history of the town itself. The first gun target in Union City was erected in 1868 by W.F. Hinton and D.C. NRARB also accepted applications for handgun licenses which were issued after fingerprinting/ photograph identification was submitted along with proof of residency! The early days of firearm registration coincided with prohibition years when possession or cultivation of all types alcohol were against federal law! After repeal of prohibition laws in 1933, individuals could purchase firearms without any special permitting or registration requirements! Many Georgians who had been registered prior to prohibition turned their registrations over to local authorities upon repeal so that they would not have to go througherous registry rules again! By 1934, NRARB had processed more than 2 million applications for pistol licenses!! Registration numbers gradually decreased thereafter as few people wanted their rights taken away from them; however, rifle registrations did increase slightly due to increasing hunting opportunities across Georgia!

Union City was founded on July 8, 1837 by settlers from Maryland who had come to Georgia looking for land to draining and developing after the Creek War. The first settler in Union City was John Ladd who arrived in 1837. In 1840, George Pritchard established a store here with his brother James Pritchard and their married sisters Anna and Sarah Pritchard. They were followed by other early pioneers such as Isaac Smith, Nicholas Metzger and Ebenezer Goodson. By 1850 the community had $10 000 in assets. By 1860 Union City had become a post office with Wm Hogg as its first mail carrier. In 1865 Union City became the capital of Baker County when it was organized from parts of Dawson and McDowell Counties into that county due to lack of a courthouse or jail within the original boundaries of Baker County. The city's first mayor was Moultrie Jowers (1865-68). In 1898 Union City hosted the Atlanta Cotton Exchange which traded cotton between Atlanta and points northward along the Mississippi River Valley for goods brought downriver by steamboats. The cotton exchanges were abolished following President Grover Cleveland's Executive Order 9265 in 1903 after criticism that they were contributing to sectionalism rather than helping merchants sell their product unadulterated at a fair price to all buyers without discrimination against any particular region or class of commerce horse traders etc.. The city experienced rapid growth during World War II as many war-related industries arose here including shipbuilding (USS Constitution), aircraft production (B-29s) and printing presses for military documents (P-47s). However industrial activity declined after 1945 as postwaruster demand diminished overall agricultural output nationally while new housing developments began replacing older warehouses full of obsolete machinery and products produced during World War II which often left downtown areas abandoned until more recent times when redevelopment has resumed there again thanks to favorable economic conditions today coupled with increased tourism visitation which has led to some revitalization activities now taking place including restoration/upgrading/landscaping of old buildings along Main Street across from Stonington Park reservoir on opposite side street) . Despite this resurgence some aspects such as deteriorating infrastructure continue such as water main breakages lately resulting in long delays getting services running again; however Mayor Webb seems intent on fixing these issues even if it means higher rents for residents caused by budget cuts elsewhere though most people are content with current service levels despite longer wait times given recently raised rates
