In 1898, construction began on what would become Atlanta's first subway system which connected downtown with Midtown via four stations – Peachtree Street Station (later renamed Centennial Hall), Fourth Avenue Station (later renamed Five Points Underground), Euclid Avenue Station (later renamed Ponce de Leon station) and Third Street Station (later renamed Regal). Passenger service began on November 3rd, 1898 with trains running every 15 minutes from downtown until early evening peak periods when service ended at 5pm sharp. On April 12th 1899 three new stations were opened along Ponce de Leon Boulevard: Dunwoody Park station served as an interchange between streetcar lines travelling southward towards Dunwoody Park reservoir/Lakeview Drive & Centennial AvenueStation served as an interchange between streetcar lines travelling northward towards University Avenue & Ponce de Leon Boulevard This system continued operation until Metropolitan Transit Authority took over operations on October 1st 1955 making all subway trains run through Terminal Two instead of downtowns two terminals serving multiple destinations like MTA used to do Union City experienced some significant changes during this time including suburban migration beginning in the late 1960s as more jobs moved into suburbs outside of Atlanta while other parts of Fulton County continued to grow quickly thanks to mining and manufacturing interests among others . Additionally large blocks of single family homes started being built throughout central Union City giving rise once again to tight housing prices across much Greater Atlanta .
