During World War II Union City became one of three cities withinAtlanta which were bombed as part of the Manhattan Project program; other targets included Marietta and Roswell Air Force Bases. Afterward, this section of Atlanta experienced some heavy gentrification as many African Americans moved into these areas while white flight began to occur in surrounding neighborhoods outside of Union City limits. Despite this overall decline in ratings during much of that decade–specifically during 1969-1972 when ozone depletion caused health problems for nearby residents–Union City nonetheless managed to remain one of Atlanta's most vibrant civic communities through several cycles of gentrification before becoming majority African American again by 2000s census estimates In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place including new housing developments along Elmwood Ave., which overlooks downtown UnionCity; two restaurants have opened up near our municipal courthouse: Daniel L’Olivier’s steakhouse near Ponce de Leon St., which offers gourmet American cuisine Tryst Coffee & Donuts adjoining First Baptist Church across from Memorial Stadium; finally Four Seasons Hotel will open their doors just east off I-285 adjacent to Ponce de Leon Street next door at 401 Peachtree St.,formerly known as Hilton Park Place Marriott hotel also has plans for development east off I-285 adjacent Peachtree Street Suite 407 soon after One Tree Hill apartments opens up just south side off I-285 adjacent Toomer’s Corner mall As evidenced by MSA totals shown above (in thousands), trends can be inferred about growth rates throughout history given certain key factors like latitude/longitude boundaries or per capita income levels within boundaries defined therein - see table below: It should be noted that changes over time will affect any given MSA's totals depending upon various external conditions affecting individual populations therein – thus it can never really be said that "Union City" has remained stagnant since 1800 merely because its borders have changed! The first people to live in Union City were Mission Indians who came from Southwestern Mexico in 1835. They built their first cabin on the Creek River near what is now Canton Avenue and Maynard Street. In 1839, they founded the Mission Indian Village on what is now Main Street and North Augusta Boulevard. In 1865, Union City became a city when it was included in the new county of Fulton. It grew rapidly due to its location on the Eastern Railroad and its ability to ship goods by boat from Savannah to Union City. The city's downtown business district still exists today and includes several businesses such as The Gilded Cage Theatre, The Cotton Exchange and two grocery stores - J&J's Grocery Store and Peoples Grocery Store - which remain open today despite being closed for years at a time. During World War II, Union City was one of many cities that received military supplies through Project CINCPAC (the Combined Intelligence Service Project). After the war ended, Union City slowly lost its economic growth until a renaissance began in the late 1990s with new construction including an improvement project on Canton Avenue known as "The Dame". That project has since been completed and has brought much vitality back to downtown Union City.
