Tifton, Georgia is home to the world's first firearm t-shirt factory. The shirt factory was started in 1892 by Samuel Gompers and his brother Julius. The factory produced rifles and shotguns for the local military, as well as other firearms. In 1934, the gun company that had been founded by Julius Gompers merged with another manufacturer, National Firearms Corporation. This merger allowed National Firearms Corporation to produce rifle and shotgun models without having to worry about manufacturing each one separately. The manufacture of firearms stopped at National Firearms Corporation in 1934 because of the Second World War. However, Tifton's gun company continued production until it closed its doors in 1975. In 1992, a new gun company called Vector Arms opened its doors in Tifton and began producing firearms again. Vector Arms has since produced over 50 different types of firearms products including pistols and rifles. Today, Vectorarms is still in business providing quality products to the community in Tifton Georgia

Tifton is a small city in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 15,711 at the 2000 census. Tifton is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. It is the county seat of Cobb County and home to the headquarters of Turner Broadcasting System Incorporated. The first Europeans to come to what is now Tifton were French fur traders, who named it "Tiffin" after their village of that name in Normandy. They arrived in 1795 and founded a trading post on the Chattahoochee River near present-day downtown Tifton. The post was abandoned by 1805 because there was no water available for its inhabitants, but it continued as an agricultural center until after World War II when cotton became the leading economic factor in town development. In 1865, David Humphreys built a store and residence on what is now First Street east of Route 1A near today's northeast corner with Interstate 285/I-285E. Humphreys had bought land from John Todd Emory about three miles north of where he lived at his plantation called Mount Pleasant on Decatur Road (now Highway 2). In 1870, Peach Orchard Company began producing peaches here and renamed their production ground "Peach Orchard." peach orchards continued operation until 1915 when they converted to vanilla extract production; however some produce still remains from these early years including Ralph's apples which are still handpicked today After World War I ended, many families left for better opportunities in other parts of America. Some local people did stay behind to take advantage of new technology brought over by returning soldiers - such as electricity - which made life easier for everyone while also providing jobs for locals during this difficult time period In 1920s Jens Jensen started operating a sawmill on what is now First Street east of Route 1A just south of Ponce de Leon Boulevard; this mill continued operations until 1978 when it shut down due to low demand from users plus environmental factors In 1958 Cason Store opened within walking distance from current day downtown Tifton along with Service Station #1 which served both businesses together until 1984 when each business closed its own door . service station #2 reopened in 1995 as Peachtree Plaza Shopping Center . However by 2006 only one wall remained standing from original service building 1924

Tifton was founded in 1802 by brothers John and James Tifton. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Chilton River, which allowed for easy access to resources and trade. In 1824, the town awarded a land grant to Joseph Cobb. Cobb developed the town into an important regional center and ran a thriving merchant economy. By 1830, Tifton had a population of over 1,200 people. The town's growth was halted by the American Civil War, but it slowly regained its prosperity after Reconstruction began in 1865. In 1870, Tifton granted city status to the town. The city prospered thanks to its ability to draw heavy industry and commerce from neighboring counties. By 1920, Tifton had reached its peak as a major industrial center with more than 100 businesses employing over 1,000 people. However, during the 1970s and 1980s there were several large-scale economic reversals that led to a decline in civilian employment and housing prices in the city limits of Tifton. Today, much of downtown is abandoned or used as vacant lots; however, some parts of the downtown have been redeveloped into mixed-use districts with high concentrations of commercial activity such as Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center and Georgia Tech's Atlanta campus
