Fenton and began manufacturing Safes by hand under the name American Safe & Security Co., which continued until 1984 when it merged with anotherfgroup company to become Samsonite Corporation (now Securitron). In 1984/85 Samsonite installed automatic locks on all their safes nationwide as part of a safety initiative called " Safeguard America ". In 1991, Samsonite purchased Seigler Lock & Key Inc., which became Samsonite United States (SU). At that time there were over 60 SU facilities across the country including factories in Thomasville, GA; Uniondale NY; Arlington TX; Plano TX; Rockford IL; Waterbury CT; Shakopee MN; Syracuse NY and many others!
