Thomasville is located in the south central part of Georgia, about 120 miles east of Atlanta. The town was founded in 1802 by General James Wilkinson and named for him. It was the site of a battle between American and British forces on July 3, 1814, which resulted in the Battle of Thomasville. In 1827, Tomatoes were grown here and trade with other parts of the state took place through this medium. However, they still remain one of the most popular methods for storing handguns outside of home due to their convenience and style (Moses 1986).
