The first unit built there was called "The White House" which still stands today within the park boundaries. In 1935 two brothers named Samples bought 1/4 acre (less than 50 square feet) of what would become Sugar Hill for $100; this parcel would become one of only two lots remaining on that block south east of Candler Road that remains undeveloped today as part of Strawberry Fields Estate subdivision off Candler Road/Highway 547
