Stockbridge, Georgia is a small town located in Fulton County, Georgia. It was founded in 1824 by General James Stockbridge and became an important railroad junction. The town played an important role in the development of the United States electrical industry. In 1907, the stock bridge that crosses over the Ocmulgee River was built and is still used today. One of the earliest optical accessories companies to be established in Stockbridge was J.B. Lippincott & Co., which made glass and plastic lenses for telescopes and microscopes. Other early optical manufacturers included Rheinische Zellenbauwerke AG, Schwenker Optik AG, and Schneider & Bender Incorporated. By World War II, most of these companies had merged into German Optical Werke GmbH (GOW). During World War II, GOW produced hundreds of millions of dollars worth of optical equipment for the war effort including aircraft landing strips and tanks. In 1945, GOW was renamed Eastman Kodak Company Limited (EKCL). After the war, GOW began to divest itself of its electronics businesses such as photochromatography and television production while keeping its photographic products business alive under new ownership until 1996 when it sold all its photographic products businesses to Japanese company Nikkon Corporation Ltd..

The community was founded in 1820 and has been since the time of its establishment. Stockbridge is home to a variety of businesses and residences, with a focus on agriculture and manufacturing. The early settlers in Stockbridge were farmers who came from eastern Massachusetts and New York City. They arrived in what is now Fulton County in 1820 and began to build homes and start businesses. One of the early pioneers was James Hickey, who started an apothecary shop in what is now the Subway sandwich Shop on Broad Street. Many other business owners followed suit over the years; such as John Beasley who ran a hardware store until his death in 1957. The community experienced some difficult times during the 1930s when it was hit hard by the Great Depression. However, it bounced back after World War II with growth in both industry and commerce. In 1954, Stockbridge became part ofAtlanta; however, it reverted to its original name after Atlanta merged with nine other counties into one entity that year. Since then, Stockbridge has seen continued growth – most notably due to investment by Mayor Emanuel which has helped bring new jobs and development to the community center and other areas of town while preserving much of its history

Stockbridge, Georgia is a small town located in Cobb County, Georgia. The population was 3,059 at the 2010 census. It was first settled in 1824. Stockbridge is named for George Stephenson, the inventor of the locomotive. The town has a history that goes back to when it was part of the Cherokee Nation. In 1828, the United States Congress passed an act giving ownership of land in western Cobb County to Colonel James Mooney and his family for their services during the War of 1812. This land later became known as Stephenson’s Valley after General George Stephenson who donated most of what is now Stockbridge Manor to make it a place where people could live and raise crops. In 1870, after years of negotiation, the town acquired its current name from two local men- Elijah Maynard and Samuel Morse- who were instrumental in developing Atlanta into one of America’s leading cities. From here until 1906, Stockbridge residents voted on issues important to their community such as annexing new townships into Cobb County or becoming members of the National Association for Democratic Education (NADEP). After World War II ended, many African Americans left Stockbridge for easier living conditions in metropolitanAtlanta orNew York City; however, many remain active citizens today including Mayor John Daley and Representative Hank Johnson both from Cobb County The early settlers were primarily farmers and traders with some industrial development occurring around Coal Harbour which served as a port for goods transported by water from North Carolina across Lake Okeechobee upriver to Savannah before being shipped downriver again via Mobile Bayou via Jacksonville then into Alabama where they would be sold off to work on plantations there until emancipation finally coming back home again through steamboats landing at Bullsboro Harbor near present day Decaturville before heading upriver all the way to Chattanooga where they would be employed on railroads or manufacturing plants until sent out west once again through various ports along Interstate 20 until finally reaching their final destination: home once more! It should be noted that while much has changed over time regarding demographics (especially within Cobb County), infrastructure (particularly relating to transportation) and economic activity throughout this unique corner of GA – particularly since 2000 – there are still many proud traditions associated with Stocksbridge that cannot be found elsewhere within our state alone: such as PTA meetings being held outdoors during severe weather events (!), annual fireworks displays at summertime festivals/ fairs (complete with marching band!), growing season chili cookoffs taking place between September & December (!), scrappy yet enterprising Little League baseball teams playing “friendly games” against each other every fall (!), homemade pies & doughnuts served daily inside Main Street post office etc., etc.– all without any advertising whatsoever! As someone who grew up neighbouring Stockbridge prior thereto – albeit just south on I-20 – what I remember most vividly about my youth decades ago are not so much specific “ incidents/events” but rather how often friends would come over specifically because we knew each other well enough now that we could enjoy dinner together without having anything specific scheduled :-) And boy did those days fly by!
