It continued to be used until 1941. On September 14, 1961, Stockbridge's first all-electric gun light was installed on the northwest corner ofMain and Second Street. The light served as a warning indicator for residents about possible crime or danger nearby. It continued to be used until 1971. In 1975, the town voted to adopt an ordinance regulating firearms within the town limits. This ordinance required individuals who were licensed by Georgia state must present a license plate number when they came into contact with a weapon or ammunition that had been reported lost or stolen within the past thirty days.

Stockbridge is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,834 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1836 by Captain James Stockbridge and his wife Elizabeth Keyes as a landing on the Chattahoochee River for traders and settlers seeking to reach what were then frontier areas of Georgia. By 1840, the town had grown to about 300 people and was named after Stockbridge's home county of Bedfordshire, England. In 1852, when Alabama became a state, it annexed parts of south Fulton County including Stockbridge; this caused some tension between the two counties over which municipality would get its name change. In 1865, with the secession of Georgia from the Union, Stockbridge became part of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest's Provisional Government during the war effort. In 1875-1876, while still under Confederate rule, Stockbridge voted to secede from Fulton County and become an independent municipality called Pauldingville; but this vote was vetoed by Governor John Bellamy (a Democrat) because it fell within range of future annexation by other counties in the county. On July 24th 1880 local residents led by Mayor Auld reactivated a fire that had been burning since early morning throughout Park Row section of town; this restarted what has come to be known as "The Great Park Row Fire". This fire destroyed most of downtown stockbridge before being extinguished by firefighters at around 5pm EDT on July 25th 1980. Following World War II there were significant changes in both demographics and economy in southern Fulton County due largely to military deployment and postwar suburban growth across eastern Cobb County - making little room for new towns like Stockbridge to grow or develop economically until well into the 21st century. However much like many other small towns throughout south Fulton County through various incarnations over time - such as diamond mining post-war Clearwater - stockbridge's continuing vitality can be seen embodied today not just through its vibrant art scene or outdoor recreation opportunities but also its strong community spirit which often puts together events like summer concerts or farmers markets despite sometimes difficult economic times
The town of Stockbridge, Georgia was founded in 1802 by Nicholas Stockbridge and his wife, Sarah. It became a municipality in 1868 and a city in 1912. The population of Stockbridge was 22,711 at the 2000 census.
