Statesboro is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 12,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fulton County. During World War II Statesboro served as an Army Air Forces Base from 1942 until 1945 when it closed due to damage from Hurricane Sammie. After the war ended statesboro experienced rapid growth with many businesses opening up including several amusement parks which helped make Statesborow one of the most popular tourist destinations in south central Georgia The City has also seen some success in redeveloping its downtown area with mixed use development such as office buildings/condominiums mixed with retail spaces which has led to increased economic activity around downtown Stateborow .
