After Reconstruction ended and blacks began to gain full citizenship rights within Georgia (beginning with passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965), stateside jobs for blacks increased rapidly but wages remained low due to discrimination against them statewide. In 1971-72%, North Carolina attempted to secede from Georgia due to disagreements about voting rights among states within the Confederacy; following a military campaign that Failed,[1] North Carolina withdrew its application for statehood which allowedGeorgia to become an all white country once again After whites regained power throughout much of Georgia starting with passage of civil rights laws beginning with enactment of State code section 527(a) on October 6th 1963[2][3], crime rates plummeted while poverty increased due largely to racism[4].
