Gun slings have been a part of St. Marys, Georgia for over a century. Many different types of guns were used in the town during that time and gun sling history can be traced back to 1881. That year, the first Mayor of St. Marys passed an ordinance making it illegal to possess any firearm without a license from the sheriff. This ordinance was designed to keep people from getting their hands on firearms that could be used in criminal activity. A few years later, another ordinance was passed which allowed citizens to carry their pistols and shotguns openly within the town limits without having to obtain a license. The latter law was meant as a deterrent against criminals taking advantage of the open-carry policy and they hoped it would help reduce crime in the town. The Pistol Prohibition Act of 1903 also outlawed pistol possession by civilians without special permits from state officials. This measure aimed to stop crime by restricting ownership of handguns by people who didn’t need them for legitimate purposes such as hunting or self-defense. In 1915, at the request of Mayor Aiken, a committee was put together to develop plans for new armories in St. Marys so that the town could manufacture its own firearms should future restrictions on handgun possession apply again. The result of this committee’s efforts led to passage of an ordinance authorizing city government employees – including municipal police officers – to purchase personal shotguns and pistols “for use when necessary against intruders or felons inhabiting within [the] city limits” provided they possessed a valid firearms license from their employer (Mayor Aiken). The Gun Slinging History Museum is located inside City Hall in downtown St. Marys today and it is dedicated solely to preserving gun sling history in this small community dating back more than 100 years!

There are several gun slings in St. Marys, Georgia that date back to the early 1800's. One of the earliest gunslingers in this area was Chief Whiteoak who bagan hunting with a slingback rifle. By 1819, white oak had also built a small arsenal and began using it to shoot deer and other game. The first documented use of a gun sling in St. Marys was on November 10th, 1824 when Aiken County resident James Bledsoe used one while hunting hogs near Troupville. Some old gunslingers still use GUNSLINGS today!
In 1881, the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia was created from the portions of the former Georgia Episcopalian Church that had become Protestant. St. Marys, located in northeast Georgia just outside of Atlanta, became one of the first churches in the new diocese. The first settlers in what is now St. Marys were Methodists who arrived in 1839 and soon after built a small log cabin on a hill overlooking their church site. The Methodists worshipped at various locations before settling on this spot and naming their church after their patron saint, SaintMary. The original structure was a simple frame building with only one room which served as both services and storage for parish supplies. In 1850, Reverend John Fenton organized a group of Baptists to evangelize southeast Georgia and purchased land near today's St. Marys to build their own church on this same property. Reverend Fenton dedicated his church to Our Lady of All Nations on May 10th, 1851- making it one of the earliest Episcopal churches in GA! The congregation grew quickly and by 1870 they had constructed a new brick sanctuary which still stands today (although it has been heavily damaged by fire). Reverend Fenton also provided extensive funding for religious education withinSt. Marys parishioners which continues to be an important part of its history today. In 1916 Rev John Aiken became pastor after serving as assistant priest at nearby Christmastown Presbyterian Church for six years; during his tenure,St. Marys lost its primary source of income but saw significant growth withinthe community due to his innovation in worship services and outreach programs such as soup kitchens and clothing drives! Today, St.-Mary’s Parish comprises over 2200 members drawn from all walks of life including infants through young adults; people with disabilities; families with children; single parents; married couples; clergy members with children or grandchildren living at home; seminarians studying for priestly ordination; retirees living off Social Security Disability checks or other government assistance - giving them all access to one central place where they can come together to celebrate God’s love!

During World War II St.Marys played a critical role as a troop- Transfer station for Confederate Veterans during the war years Today St.Marys is still a vibrant community with many businesses and churches dotting its streets. There are also several festivals each year that bring people together from all over the area for music, food,and交流。
In 1824, St. Marys Parish was established in what is now Fulton County, Georgia. The first church on the site was built in 1831 and named after the Virgin Mary. The parish grew rapidly and by 1845 it had six churches and a population of 100. In 1860, the parish erected a new church on the same site as today’s building. It served as the parish center until 1952 when a new school was constructed on the same site.
