In 1899, Charles Athey founded an optical company that manufactured and sold binoculars under the name of “Atheneum”. A few years later he merged with another manufacturer to create what is now known as Bushnell & Co., Inc., which continues to make high-quality binocular products today! During World War II, American military personnel were given free access toBushnell & Co.'s binocular products for use on battlefields around the world! In fact, some of Bushnell's most famous products include their Overhead Mapping Camera (OMC), which helped scientists map out battlefield positions during World War II; and their Night Vision Goggles (NVG), which allowed soldiers to see objects at night without being detected by enemy troops!

St. Marys is a town in Dawson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The first settlement in what is now St. Marys was made by Captain James Cook on November 11, 1775 while exploring the coast of present-day Georgia from Savannah to Tampa Bay. He and his men landed at what is now Port Royal Beach on January 8, 1776 and built a small Methodist church there as part of their exploration trip that included stops in both South Carolina and Georgia. On April 12, 1802, Colonel John Adams established a post office in what is now St. Marys with letters sent from Fort Jackson (now Jacksonville) south to Athens for distribution through the Red River Settlement before being carried north to Mobile Bay via the Alabama Pass over Blue Ridge Mountains into Tennessee before arriving at Savannah on December 13th of that year. At that point all mail stopped traveling downriver and it was only available by sea until packet steamers began running between Savannah and Baltimore starting on December 14th 1802 which cut off direct shipping traffic between England and America during times of war or political unrest which occasioned much indignation among Americans west of the Allegheny Mountains...It should be noted here that when Captain Cook set ashore at StMarys he had not discovered any modern day city named after him like Savannah or Charleston but just an uninhabited beachfront community located near today's downtown StMarys! In 1819Captain John Smith explored this area around present day StMarys looking for new land to settle as part of his Great American Land Expedition along with Major General Andrew Jackson who eventually led forces against Native Americans in what is known as The Battle of Horseshoe Bend。 In 1827 A Bittern Flocks nestled atop high bluffs overlooking harbor created by dune build up following flooding associated with Hurricane Nena caused extensive damage including most homes within 2 miles (3 km). During World War II many Naval personnel were stationed at NAS Pensacola where they erected an airfield for use during Japanese bombing raids over Pensacola Harbor during WW2 called "Lechmere". Many locals also worked hand-in-hand with military contractors developing systems such as radar early warning receivers which allowed commanders more accurate information about targets well before they were attacked resulting in increased accuracy rate achieved without having any losses thereby making this one of if not THE largest single peacetime installation ever constructed by our country's Military...Today visitors can tour many interesting restored buildings dating back over 100 years including: The old Post Office Building still stands although renovation work has completed inside since 2006 providing excellent visitor access while touring displays about local history inside along with 4 large reproduction cannons used outside during WWII right next toanchor buoy
St. Marys was founded in 1829 by religious refugees from the French Revolution. The settlement was named for the Virgin of Montserrat, who had been martyred in 1793. The first Catholic bishop at St. Marys was Father John Fenton, who served from 1830 to 1836. In 1840, the diocese moved to its present location on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta. In 1865, a group of Catholics led by Bishop Samuel Hickey built a convent and monastery on Ponce de Leon Avenue near what is now Lenox Hill Cemetery. This convent and monastery are now known as the Hickey House Museum. In 1860, Pope Pius IX granted official recognition to the Georgian diocese of St. Marys and established an apostolic vicariate for Georgia under Archbishop Raphael Lemisso de la Torre y Gomez (1864-1872). Archbishop Lemisso recommended that the new Diocese be erected around Acworth; however, this recommendation was not followed until 1870 when Bishop John Darnell approved it without delay. The first bishop of the new diocese was Monsignor James Curran (1871-1901). On July 9, 1901,diocesan boundaries were redrawn following a decision of the Holy See which separated Stroudsburg from Stoney Creek Township and added Pennington County to its jurisdiction with effect from November 1, 1901 . On October 20th 1904 additional territory east of Interstate 285 including much of Cobb County became part of our current jurisdiction as well as most parts of Fulton County since we annexed those counties on December 12th 1955 . Our original cathedral church located at 404 Peachtree Road in downtownAtlantawas destroyed by fire on February 15th 1911 but due to financial considerations we were able to rebuildon what is now Reynoldstown Chapel adjacentto Marist University just south of I-85 exit 217 South before finally being dedicated on May 22nd 1924 . After World War II our population exploded with many people coming through our doors seeking religious services during that time period . We eventually lost all vestigesof control over various parishes within our jurisdictional area after statehood which caused some tension with other churches within our jurisdictional area ..... until recent years when things have started getting better and more centralized ......
