Sherman ordered these rifles to be made into a weapon called the rifle of peace or "the elephant." The rifle of peace was very successful in battle and helped win the war for Union forces against Confederate forces. After World War II ended, many people inSnellville left their jobs in order to retire or start their own businesses. One such business owner was Mr. Harry Demarest who started an ammunition company called Demarest Ammunition Company in 1949. This company became very successful and continues today as one of Snellville's most prominent businesses!
