The city experienced another boom during Reconstruction following the Civil War. Many businesses reopened after Reconstruction ended and property values increased significantly. However, by 1871snellingille had lost its status as a major industrial center due to technological advances and competition from larger cities like Atlanta and Nashville. However, it still remains an important cultural hub today with multiple art galleries and museums located within walking distance of each other
