Afterward, most businesses closed their doors for several weeks while workers made repairs to aging infrastructure; however, some reopened soon afterward because they had insurance or were unable to replace lost equipment due to lack of funds or time constraints. By 1865 most businesses had reopened but significant damage had already been done including loss of entire blocks between Jackson Street and Constitution Avenue due to firefighting efforts; today these blocks are known as Second Street East and Third Street West from east to west
