Gunsights have been around for centuries, and Savannah, Georgia is home to one of the most well-known gun sights in the world. The Savannah Rifle and Pistol Club (SRPC) was founded in 1837, and has been a fixture in the city ever since. Today, SRPC still hosts pistol matches and rifle matches throughout the year, as well as providing instruction to both civilians and law enforcement officers. The origins of gunsights can be traced back to 1620 when Captain John Smith discovered cannons could be fired by sighting down their barrel with a piece of glass. It wasn’t long before firearms were being used for hunting and Protection against war. By 1790, handguns had become popular among militia forces across North America. In 1837, Captain John Smith founded the Savannah Rifle & Pistol Club to promote shooting in the city. With so many people living in Savannah at that time, it was no surprise that there were plenty of opportunities for organized shoots. Over time, different types of gunsights became available: reflex sights were designed for quick target acquisition; Weaver sights allowed shooters to adjust their aim manually; clamps were used to attach barrels onto stocks or rifles; Atomic pistols featured nuclear-generated fire controls; various aiming modes were available including “ejector” mode which ejected spent rounds from an open magazine; and “bunny ear” sight which helped shooters hit targets at close range without having to take off their hat or sunglasses. Throughout its history, SRPC has hosted more than 100 pistol matches and rifle competitions – making it one of the largestgun Clubs in Georgia!
Gun sights are devices that allow a shooter to see the target through a scope. They are usually attached to rifles and shotguns in order to make it easier for the shooter to hit the target. There are a variety of different types of gun sights, including red dot sights, holographic sights, and iron sight sights. Red dot Sight: A red dot sight is a type of sighting device used on firearms that uses small dots located at various points around the focus area in order to aim the weapon at your desired point of impact. The dots will also fade as you move them closer or further away from your eye, making it easy for you to zero in on your target without having to adjust your position every time. Red dot sighting devices come in many different shapes and sizes, so there is sure to be one that fits your firearm perfectly. Holographic Sight: A holographic sight is a type of sight used on firearms that uses two light beams that bounce off of each other in order to create an image which can be seen through the scope. This type of sight is often preferred by shooters who want greater accuracy because they can maintain their aiming point even when under heavy magnification settings. Holographic sights come in both R/G and T/R varieties, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs. Iron Sight: An iron sight is a type of sighting device used on firearms which involves using lines drawn onto either metal or plastic plates inside the rifle or shotgun barrel respectively in order to guide the projectile towards its intended target. Iron sights typically use click mechanisms rather than moving parts, making them much more reliable than other types of gunsight systems. Iron sights are available either with reticles or without any reticles at all; however, most manufacturers offer multiple options depending on what kind of shooting you prefer (See Appendix A).
In 1838, the first guns were fired in Savannah. The site of present day Savannah was a small island in the Savannah River, just upstream from where the river now empties into Georgia. The island was connected to mainland by a bridge and it is thought that early gunners on the island used dogs to carry rounds back and forth to their ships anchored on opposite banks of the river. The first handguns in Savannah were made of crude wood and metal but by 1851 they had been replaced with firearms made of Bakelite or other plastic materials. In 1865, handguns again became popular in Savannah after General James Longstreet's army captured Atlanta and moved south towards Georgia's capital city. After Confederate General Robert Ewell's surrender at Appomattox Court House, many citizens began using handguns for protection against possible Union attacks. By 1887, pistols had become so common in Savannah that department stores began carrying them as part of their firearms sales equipment. Pistol caliber ammunition became available starting around this time as well which helped increase accuracy andranged gunfire within urban areas.

The history of gun sights is vast and complex. There are many different types and designs of sights, from simple iron sights to complicated reticle gunsights. As firearms became more common, the need for better sighting devices became apparent. So, throughout the years, designers have sought new ways to improve sight picture and accuracy. Some of these advances include: 1) The development of reflex sights, which allow shooters to maintain complete focus on their target while firing; 2) New materials and methods for manufacturing sights; and 3) The addition of adjustable turrets or mounts that can be rotated in order to provide various sighting solutions.
As the popularity of handguns grew, so did the demand for more accurate and reliable sights. In 1857, John Browning began development of a rifle sight that would become known as the Browning Rifle Sight. The design was based on a complaints from army officers that rounds were often misspelled or misdirected when fired through standard rifles. This led to the development of what is now known as a red dot sight.
