Sandy Springs, Georgia is a city located in the Atlanta metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, it has a population of 208,845. The history of Sandy Springs goes back to 1837 when John Wesley Hardin and his brother James founded what would become Sandy Springs. The city was incorporated in 1881. In 1916, Sandy Springs became one of the first cities in the United States to enact public health laws (the "Public Health Officers Act"). It also became one of the first cities in the United States to establish a fire department and police department. The City Council began discussing creation of an shooting range in 1948. On November 12th, 1949, Mayor Coady signed into law Amendment No. 1 which provides for regulation and management by private individuals or organizations who will expend reasonable sums for safety purposes at any time they choose to operate such ranges within Sandy Springs limits free from municipal control or interference thereof; provided that no person shall erect any building or structure therein for use as a shooting ground without written consent from the Mayor and City Council; provided further that said amendment does not apply to Sporting Shooters' Clubs having meeting rooms within their membership homes exclusively used for this purpose only and that all charges made by said private organizations hereinfor shall be paid by them out of such fees as may be imposed thereon by ordinance or resolution duly passed by either body at its next regular meeting." On October 20th, 1952, Amendment No. 2 was ratified which allowed commercial organizations such as casinos to open businesses within reach of residents thus legalizing gambling within city limits. On July 9th 1971 Amendments No: 3-5 were ratified providing for gun training ranges with twenty-five rifles/ shotguns per class for citizens 21 years old or older who pass an FBI background check and provide $100 must be deposited into an account established at least two weeks before each class begins with no exceptions being granted excepting active duty members on military installations homeported outside Georgia;provided that said amendment does not apply to Citizens’ Rifle & Pistol Club which meets quarterly on Saturday mornings from 9am until 10am inside Liberty Hall)". These amendments went into effect retroactive to July 9th 1971

Sandy Springs, Georgia is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is the home of Delta Air Lines and has been called "The Athens of the South" for its cultural and educational prominence. Sandy Springs was founded in 1814 as a small settlement on Sandy Creek by Welsh immigrants who named it Sandyford after their homeland of Wales. A post office was established in 1827, and by 1830, the community had grown to include 4 stores, 2 churches (the first Greek Orthodox church in south Georgia), 1 school, and 10 families. By 1840, the town had reached its current size with over 100 residents. In 1858–59, local landowners chartered what would become Delta Air Lines as a transportation company providing passenger services between Atlanta and Savannah along the Chattahoochee River. Delta became one of America's first commercial airline companies. In 1922 when Atlanta moved from its original location near Peachtree Street to Midtown on Second Avenue beneath Constitution Hall (now Fifth Street), Sandy Springs followed suit and relocated to its current location on High Street between Constitution Avenue and Third Avenue within 5 years of that move! In 1886–87, Dr. James Hargrave imported 50% of all produce grown in north Georgia to be sold here because he believed that fresh produce would improve public health due to cross-breeding with American crops which were then considered unhealthy/bad for human consumption). Today much of this fresh produce is still sourced here from farmers markets throughout rural northwest Georgia! Dollar General opened up shop here in Spriggs Furniture Mall back in 1987!!! I am so excited about that store opening up there bc it means more jobs here locally!!!!!

The city's growth continued through the years, thanks to its location on the border of two very large slave markets - one in Savannah and one in Atlanta - and its status as a transportation hub. In 1907, Sandy Springs became home to the first all-electric streetcar system in Georgia. The streetcar system helped spur economic development in Sandy Springs, and it remains an important part of the city's history today.
