By 1830, many Scots had moved to Sandy Springs due to cheap land prices and favorable climate conditions which resulted in rapid population growth throughout the antebellum period across much of northeastern Georgia including Sandy Springs itself! In 1834, Spalding Brothers & Company began producing cotton ginned fabrics here at their new facility on present day Maynard Street just south of downtown Sandy Springs – becoming one of America’s leading textile companies during this time! This initial success led to other businesses such as shoe stores opening up soon thereafter – making this town one of the early commercial centers within central Fulton County! As late as 1918 when Atlantan Time Service moved into its current building on Vine Street downtown – business still counted for a major chunk of local GDP back then! Today’s incarnation as an affluent residential neighborhood followed decades later with serious suburban development taking hold starting around 1960 when statehood gave Georgia more control over its borders west of Interstate 20! After years of legal wrangling between various property owners etc., today’s expansive mixed use redevelopment has finally come to fruition around Camden Yards ballpark/SRP Center complex adjacent to I-285/Maynard Street corridor thereby creating a vibrant center for commerce and culture not only within walking distance but also minutes away by car or shuttle bus from several high end restaurants/cafés etc.? What once comprised mainly rural agricultural farmland now occupies nearly two million square feet total with some 5200 jobs annexed therein?
