They also manufacture night vision goggles and otherweapon accessories. Over time, the Flashlight Company became very successful within the firearm industry. They continued to produce high-quality weapon flashlights until their bankruptcy in 1974. Over time, other families followed suit and began calling their community "Riverdale". In 1881, a post office was established at Riverdale and it continued to serve residents until 1961. In 1957, an act was passed authorising the erection of a shopping mall in Riverdale which became known as "The Mall". The mall opened in 1959 and quickly became successful; it currently attracts over 150 million visitors annually. Today, much of what makes Riverdale so appealing has been preserved or built upon: including its rich cultural heritage, many large-scale businesses located within walking distance or minutes' drive of each other, and plenty of parks with lovely gardens for children to play in or explore

The town was founded in 1871 by area farmers and estaminers who were relocated from nearby Decatur. In 1922, the name was changed to Riverdale after the river that cuts through it. The town has a population of around 1,000 people. It is home to two high schools- Stone Mountain High School and Hartsfield-Jackson Airport High School- as well as several businesses including Barnes & Noble, Verizon Wireless, Coca Cola Company and Piggly Wiggly hamburgers. In addition to its namesake river, Riverdale also features golf courses (Stone Mountain and Hartsfield-Jackson), tennis courts (Marquette Park), playgrounds (Doris Recreation Center) and a movie theater (Riverdale Drive). The history of Riverdale begins with area farmers and estaminers who were relocated from nearby Decatur in 1871. They came to live near the Chattahoochee River where they hunted game and cultivated crops. By 1922, when the name was changed to Riverdale after the river that cuts through it, many of these same settlers had moved on or died off leaving behind their homes and memories of their lives in Riverdale. Today's residents are descendants of those original settlers with some having moved here since 1922. There are still a few families living Downtown who maintain ties to their childhood home while others have chosen other lifestyles due to advances made in technology over the years such as cell phone service which allows for remote monitoring of properties within easy reach!
Riverdale is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,854 at the 2010 census. Riverdale is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The name "Riverdale" was given to the place by George Washington as a gift to his grandson, James Robertson. The original home of the Howell family near what is now Riverdale was burned down in 1823 by Andrew Jackson's forces during the War for Independence. The home of John Wesley Hardee, who later became governor of Georgia and Ulysses S. Grant's running mate inPresident Ulysses S. Grant’s election campaign in 1868, was also destroyed by fire in 1875. The first post office in Riverdale opened on December 12, 1866; it was renamed Decatur on February 3, 1867. As a result of Creek Indian Wars fought between 1763 and 1865 along the Chattahoochee River valley between what is now Fulton and Roswell counties, much land within present-day Riverdale was used for military bases and other purposes throughout these years; most notably Fort Snelling (now known as Gwinnett Park) on what is now CR 515 south of town limits date back to this time period In 1899, construction began on one of Atlanta's first suburbs: Mariettaville (later Mableton). Mariettaville would eventually become one ofAtlanta's largest neighborhoods with over 100 homes Garden City style subdivisions located just east of I-285/SR 20 about three miles from downtown Atlanta
