The Riverdale Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1907. It is one of the oldest rifle and pistol clubs in the United States. The club has a rich history that goes back to when it was first formed. The club’s first president, A.J. Smith, was a member of the Georgia legislature and he donated land for the club to be located in Riverdale, Georgia. The club Northridge Rifle & Pistol Club also joined the league in 1907. The Riverdale Rifle and Pistol Club team shot at various tournaments throughout the years. In 1913 they won the NRA Handgun Championship at Buffalo Gap National Park with a score of 141 points out of a possible 200 points. They repeated this success in 1914 with a score of 145 points out of a possible 200 points; both times they were led by Vice President General George Armstrong Custer (1863-1947). In 1916, Riverdale teamed up with Southside Rifles to win their second consecutive NRA Handgun Championship at Buffalo Gap National Park with scores of 148 out of a possible 200 points. This victory marked an impressive milestone for both clubs as it was their fourth time consecutively winning championships in this event; prior to 1916 most teams only competed once every two years or so! In 1920, while on vacation in Florida, President Warren G Harding (1892-1974) stopped bylanding at Jacksonville on his way home from Panama City Beach where he had been attending an international conference convened by King George V (1868-1925). While there he metwith Colonel John Wickersham who told him about an upcoming rifle tournament being held at Jacksonville between American Sniper riflesmen from Georgia and Florida teams known as “The Japs” because they were wearing Japanese uniforms! Harding decided to attend and offered his participation which drew immediate attention from all involved due to its significance! Harding returned home after completing his visit and organized another NRA handgun championship for Jacksonville between American Sniper riflemen from Georgia and Florida teams known as “The Japs” because they were wearing Japanese uniforms! This time around America beat Japan 20-13 behind Countryman No 2 riflesman Eugene Debs (1872-1948) playing without any monkeying with equipment! Incredibly enough enough this victory still stands today as America’s third consecutive NRA Handgun Championship title – something that has not been achieved since World War II! It wasn’t until 1935 that gunsmith/builder Harry Colt started making ear plugs specifically designed for shooters called Colt Ear Plugs which became popular among shooters everywhere due to their comfortable design and good sound quality over traditional hearing protectors!. Riverdale is named after the river that cuts through it and called "RIVERDALE" by General Andrew Jackson in 1807 while he was commanding an expedition up the Chattahoochee River. The first inhabitants of what would become Riverdale were Native Americans who hunted and gathered around present-day Millwood Creek. In 1764, General James Oglethorpe established his headquarters at Stono Ferry on the Chattahoochee River near modern day Riverdale. He recommended to his superior officer Colonel John Smith that settlers be brought over from South Carolina to establish a post on this location because of its strategic position between Savannah and Athens. In 1768, Governor James Moultrie sent Captain Ebenezer Goodloe with 200 men to select land for a post hereabouts. After spending several months wandering about searching for suitable sites, Goodloe returned with a tract of land on which he erected a log cabin known as “Goodloe’s Fort” (now known as Olde Towne). This fort served as an outpost until 1775 when it burned down due to Confederate attack during the American Revolution.
