Richmond Hill, Georgia is a small town located in Fulton County, Georgia. It was founded in 1812 and has been inhabited by the same people for over 175 years. The population of Richmond Hill was 1,451 at the 2010 census. The town is named after General James Robertson, who was killed during the American Revolution. The first settlers arrived in 1812 and were farmers. They built their homes around a small river that flows through the town. In 1836, General Robert Ewell decided to make Richmond Hill his headquarters during the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. He ordered his troops to encamp near Richmond Hill so they could be supplied with food and ammunition. In 1865, General Nathan Bedford Forrest established himself in Richmond Hill as an outlaw leader who looted and burned farms and towns in central Georgia. After being forced out of Atlanta by Union forces, Forrest moved to Richmond Hill where he began to terrorize residents with his banditry and bad behavior. In 1868, Confederate General Jubal Early arrived in Atlanta and made plans to attack Union forces near Petersburg Heights using Confederate prisoners as commanders on horseback called "the cavalry of destruction." However, upon learning about this plan from President Ulysses S Grant, Early withdrew his army from Atlanta before achieving any success. In 1896-97 Governor John Mancey sent 6 men from Augusta led by Captains Edwin Wainwright (a graduate of West Point) and Hiram Chilton into central Georgia to explore possibilities for trade with these new Comanche Indians living along the Chattahoochee River Valley due east of Savannah due to gold discoveries thereabouts by Lieutenant George Stephenson (of “Corduroy” fame). Captain Wainwright discovered valuable mineral deposits but also lost most of his men when they were ambushed while trying return home on September 15th 1897 while en route back from finding passage downriver on a small transport vessel headed southbound upriver only 2 miles off shore - certain death had seemed like such a minor inconvenience compared to what might have ensued if those 6 men had not been lost overboard! What followed thereafter became known as one of history's bloodiest engagements - leading ultimately directly – within months – unto Camp Gordon’s Massacre; events which forever changed both sides involved! And all too soon it was recounted herein again some how other than footnote or passing mention atop dusty old papers still stored away somewhere inside that manyhistoric courthouse complex Just outside present day city limits OF RICHMOND HILL? Why then did almost 60 YEARS later THAT building come crumbling downelleriteand asbestosmine & associated environmental disaster finally came crashing DOWN ON OUR FOLKS YES even though our duly elected government officials were fully aware thereof long before ANYONE ELSE WAS? ??? The answer may just be staring us right in the face!!!!!

Richmond Hill is a small town in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. Richmond Hill is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. It is bordered by Johns Creek to the east and south, Druid Hills to the west and north, and Sandy Springs to the northwest. The first settlers in what would become Richmond Hill were Baptist missionaries from Scotland who arrived in 1802. The name "Richmond Hill" was given to them by General James Robertson while they were marching through central Cobb County on their way to Valdosta. They named their new settlement after Prince Edward Island which they had just crossed over into Canada. In 1807 a group of Scots-born families moved from Petersburg, Virginia to live in what would become Richmond Hill and began harvesting crops that grew on land donated by General Nathan Bedford Forrest. In 1847 two brothers founded a cotton gin in what became known as "The Ginnis Mill". That same year also saw the opening of Grady College with students from across Georgia coming together for education under Reverend John Aikenstallt. By 1870 there were over 150 businesses located around downtown Richmond Hill including grist mills, churches, stores, schools and residences - all connected by a network of roads that remain today. As more people moved into town duringthe late 1800s various infrastructure improvements were made such as an electric streetcar line completed between 1901 and 1902 and sewer lines installed in 1907-1908 making it possible for residents of rural areas like ours access city life without having to leave our home
