The black community in Richmond Hill slowly dissolved over time as white people replaced those lost to migration elsewhere or died from natural causes such as malaria or yellow fever while living off their land (Lemon). Today there is only a handful of African American descendants remaining in town while most residents are white with some Hispanic descent also present throughout history (Pope). In 1913, when Fulton County merged with neighboring DeKalb County to create MetropolitanAtlanta Regional Authority (MARA), Richmond Hills served as one of several towns within MARA's jurisdiction including Decatur and Roswell which made up the new city of Roswell (Pope).
