Powder Springs is a small town in Greene County, Georgia, United States. It is the seat of Greene County and was once a thriving tobacco port. The town's history can be traced back to 1811 when it was established as a post office by James Caldwell. At the time, Powder Springs was known as "The Town on the Mountain" because of its location at an elevation above sea level. In 1836, William Hartsfield built his plantation here and named it after himself, Hartsfield Manor. In 1841, Alexander Stephens purchased part of Hartsfield Manor and renamed it Powder Springs Plantation. By 1860, Buffer Land Company had acquired all of the land east of Main Street in Powder Springs and laid out streets and laid out houses. In 1865-1866, Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest called upon local farmers to come together to form a militia to help him suppress the Union army during the Civil War. The first group of men from Powder Spring formed what became known as Company A (later Alpha) of Braves Battalion #14983 on October 8th 1865 under command of Corporal George Wirtz. This company served for two years before being disbanded due to lack of equipment or recruits In 1897-1898 there was a fire that destroyed most of downtown powder springs In 1907-1908 a new hospital/apartment complex called Parkland Place was built across from Main Street in downtown powder springs Today many businesses are located along mainstreet including Bibles Unlimited store which has been open since 1954

However, they reopened again within a few years due to new technology being developed at that time that made these mills more efficient than ever before! Today, Powder Springs remains an agricultural center with many small businesses dotting its landscape including several grocery stores as well as restaurants and cafes along Main Street . Additionally, it hosts numerous events throughout the year including music festivals/fairs/school carnivals/theater productions etc., making it an interesting place to visit during any season!

However, over recent decades there has been an effort to revitalize Powder Spring with new development and investment including a major renovation project that began in 2006 and is ongoing today.
