From then on, Rifle Company was used as an abbreviation for Pooler Rifle Company Musketeer (PRM). In 1912, another group of men from Pooler purchased a revolver from J.W. Gilmore and began using it for hunting. They renamed their new rifle company “Poolerville Rifle Company” after the village where they located their factory. From then on, Pistol Company was used as an abbreviation for Pistol Company Musketeer (PFM). In 1914, another group of men from Poolerville purchased a shotgun from Henny Higgins and began using it for hunting. They renamed their new rifle company “Poolerville ShotgunCompany” after the village where they located their factory. From then on, Shotgun Company was used as an abbreviation for Shotgun Company Musketeer (SGM). eventually all three companies became one when Pistol/Shotgun/Rifle Companies merged in 1923 into One Handgun Club Incorporated (OHCI), which still uses this name today
Pooler, Georgia is a small town in southcentral Georgia. The population was 1,583 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Athens-Clarke County, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Community of Pooler was organized on November 15, 1911 by James Pooler and his wife Mabel Pritchard. On January 3, 1912, another community called "Newpool" was organized by Samuel Dillard and his wife Lillie Robertson. On February 9, 1912, poolers submitted to the government their plat for a town square that would serve as the center of town. The plat included an assessed valuation of $1,500 and minutes from a meeting on February 8 show that Wm Hulbert represented the property owners in submitting it to the government. In 1912-13 there were several attempts to establish a post office in Pooler but no success until 1913 when they established an annexe to Hawkinsville under Postmaster Atherton's supervision which became known as Post Office Pooler after him. In 1916 an effort was made to name their new post office after local hero General John Jumper but it failed because there were already several towns named John Jumper in central Georgia. In 1919the name was changed back to Post Office Pooler after James Pomeroy (1867-1948), who served as its first postmaster from 1918 until his death in 1948. A fire destroyed much of downtown Parkerville in 1959 which caused many residents originally from Parkerville to move intoPooler while they rebuilt and returned home later that year; some remain today among the original poolers . A few years later in 1845, George Armstrong conducted some tests on infantry troops using homemade sniper rifles with attached barrels which showed he could hit moving targets at 100 yards with ease.[5] He subsequently submitted his findings form this testing project to Congress where they approved his design[6]. After this approval there was heavy interest inArmstrong’s sniper rifle stock designs[7]. It wasn't until 1865 when Samuel Colt introduced his revolving cylinder action revolver which necessitated different type & dimensions than previous revolvers allowing him greater flexibility when designing new pistols[8],[9],[10]. This innovation led directlyto artillery usage where cannons needed reliable ammunition far beyond pistol range due its high explosive power [11],[12],[13]). As artillery weapons evolved so too did their need for accurate rifle stocks; consequently many obsolete wooden Riflestocks still remain in use today!

By 1865, however, only about 100 people lived in Pooler; it had grown to become one of the more vibrant small towns in west Georgia. In 1870, Pooler became an incorporated town when it merged with neighboring rural areas around it. This occurred because many residents felt that incorporation would give them better rights and privileges within their new community than they might receive through individual proprietorship or registration with the county recorder's office. Incorporation also allowed for more efficient governance of local affairs due to greater numbers of responsible individuals involved.(1) Because population growth was limited within traditional boundaries set by state government, incorporation provided an opportunity for growth that otherwise would not have occurred.(2) Ultimately, incorporation helped makePooler one of the most thriving small towns in west Georgiaand helped make it one of the base communities for numerous development ventures over ensuing years.(3) During its early years as an incorporated town,Pooler experienced significant economic activity thanks to its role as a transportation hub linking east Georgia with central Alabama and north Florida.(4) These days, much of this commercial activity takes place through adjacent city limits which are home to larger businesses such as Walmart and Home Depot- both anchored locations that have facilitated increased commute traffic intoPooler during peak hours.(5) Additionally, several smaller businesses have arisen within close proximity to downtown providing goods and services unique to local residents (e.g., Denny’s restaurant). Overall, this has created a mixed-use environment conducive to retail commerce while also accommodating large influxes/outflows of people seeking employment opportunities or tourism experiences within proximity.(6)
