He went to school at Grays Ferry until he was thirteen years old when he left for college at Brown University where he studied law under Salmon Peevey. After graduating from college, he practiced law for two years before moving to Rome, Georgia to start his own practice. In 1825, Pooler married Rebecca Coolidge and they moved toPooler until she died in 1853. They had four children: Levi (1829-1900), Mary (1831-1912), Johnathan (1833-1913), and Anna (1835-1921). pooler also had an affair with Sarah Thomson which led to her being charged with adultery on March 3rd, 1830; however she later recanted her statement and received a pardon from President Andrew Johnson. In 1832, Pooler ran for office as a Republican candidate for United States Senate against Richard Molsky but lost by virtue of Molsky’s victory over John Crain Jr.. In 1840, while still living in Rome, Georgian politicking got him elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-Third Congress but resigned before taking office because he disapproved of the Lincoln Administration’s actions during the Civil War including their decision not to offer assistance to Confederate forces during that conflict despite knowing their intentions were wrongheadedness . On July 2nd 1865 at 11 PM local time after leading troops into battle against Confederate General Robert E Lee near Appomattox Court House Virginia Beach Pennsylvania wearing only his underwear as protection from sniper fire during that day’s Battle of Petersburg General Robert E Lee called off his attack after seeing what looked like Union soldiers coming up behind him thus resulting in one man dead; this event is known as Appomattox Court House Massacre ."
