Pooler is a town in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The name Pooler comes from two places: "Ponder" and "Yoner." Ponder means pond in English and "yoner" means young people or children in Cherokee language. Pooler post office was established on December 12, 1892. The first postmaster was Wm Fenton. On November 2, 1907, the name of the town changed to Pooler when it became apparent that there would be more than one term given for this community by different sections of Georgians. In 1929, Pooler incorporated as a city with a population of 3300 residents and it has since grown to over 507 residents today making it one of Cobb County's fastest-growing municipalities. On January 1, 1957 Pooler annexed parts of DeKalb County which made it even larger with a population of over 10000 residents!
