From 1868 to 1978, Pooler had a gun safe business that was well known and respected in the area. In 1898, Pooler resident H.B. (Harry) Cook started his own safe company, which he called the Cook Safe Company. The company prospered for many years until oven fire destroyed their plant in 1978. The history of gun safes is replete with tragedy; however, it is also full of heroism and resilience. Gun safes have been used as protection against robbery and burglary since their inception; however, they were not always easy to come by or afford for most residents. In 1868, Harry Cook opened his first safe house in Pooler when he realized that there was no security available for town shotguns from thieves trying to steal them from local farmers. “Cooks Safes” quickly became a familiar name around Pooler because they offered high-qualitysafe products at an affordable price point. The company survived numerous fires over the years thanks to its hard work ethic and excellent customer service skills! After the factory fire in 1978, Cook's successor decided to continue production of safes under two different names: "Starrett Safes" and now "Packer Brothers Safes". However, even though these companies offer similar products today, their histories are very different - StarrettSafe being retired in 2015 while PackersBrothers still operates today with several stores across Georgia!

Pooler is a small, unincorporated community in north-central Fulton County, Georgia, United States. It is located on the east side of Pooler Lake. The community had a population of 156 as of the 2010 census. The name "Pooler" was originally given to the village by General James A.Fulton after his forces destroyed several postes and settlements in what is now Pooler Lake in 1824. The name has been used intermittently throughout its history but began to be commonly used as an address in 1892 when railroad tracks were built through the area and mail arrived from Atlanta at two stations called Pooler and Peachtree Roads. A post office was established at Pooler in 1892, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. In 1920, infrastructure improvements associated with interstate travel made it necessary for a new post office to be constructed; this one continued operations until it closed on July 15, 2009. The community experienced significant growth during World War II due to the production of aluminum cans by local companies such as Alcoa and Allied Can haulers based out of nearby Decatur. After the war ended, growth slowed significantly as Aluminum can production gradually went away replaced by other technology such as plastics and electronic products that drove down demand for aluminum cans among consumers and manufacturers alike. However, recent efforts have begun again ( evidenced by plans for additional housing) which could lead to more rampant development over time if not checked

Over time, other forms of protection became popular for guns such as rifles and shotguns. In 1916, John Brownell patented an invention called an obstruction-resistant barrel lock which allowed shotguns to be stored with their barrels still locked back together in case of theft or vandalism. This type of safe continued to be popular until about 1970 when it began to become less common because it was difficult to operate and had several weaknesses compared to modern safes. In 1950, handgun safety expert Alonzo Harris created a safer handgun Safe which used multiple layers of metal construction that prevented unauthorized access through openings in its surface alone like those found on earlier designs Additionally, each layer was glued into place so that no tampering could occur during storage This new safe design became known as “Alonzo Harris Security” after its inventor It remained popular until 1974 when it was replaced by another more secure handgunsafe design called “Maytag Security” which remains in use today

Pooler is a small, rural town in central Georgia. The population was 1,564 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Athens-Clarke County, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Pooler community began as a log cabin village on the banks of the Chattahoochee River in 1837. In 1865, Pooler became one of two towns in Clarke County when it was organized from parts of Athens and Decatur Counties. Pooler's downtown area includes a historic courthouse and several large frame buildings that were built during the early 20th century as agricultural settlements and then used for local government, schools, and businesses. In 1924, an act to create a county seat for Clarke County was passed by the Georgia General Assembly; Pooler was chosen over Albany because it had been suggested to legislators by then-County Judge John Gossage Jr.. On July 16, 1928, Pooler became one of eight towns within Athens-Clarke County when it was merged with that county. In 1990s new development increased population growth inlying areas east of I-285 and west of US 231/US 431 (the old Alabama Road). This has led to changes in character and landscape along those roads since those days including loss or impairment of significant historical resources such as pioneer cabins located near I-285's western edge which have been replaced by more recent housing developments
