Pooler is a small town in Georgia. It's population was 1,592 at the 2010 census. The community is located in Fulton County and it is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Pooler was named for George Pool, a Revolutionary War soldier who settled there in 1800. The village was founded by George Pool and his family in 1800. In 1892, the community had a post office and two stores. A school opened in 1908 and closed in 1946. In 1951, an agricultural college moved to Pooler from Milledgeville and it operated until 1972 when it merged with Valdosta State University to form Valdosta State University-Poole Campus. In 1971, the county government of Fulton County merged with that of Gwinnett County to create the current day Atlanta metropolitan area which included all of Pooler as well as other towns within its boundaries including Primm and Brookhaven on the eastern edge ofAtlanta Pooler is located just outside of downtown Atlanta on I-285 south of exit 213A/C/D (Rockefeller Road). The community has a public square (named after Gussie Pool) that includes a baseball diamond, playground, water features including an artificial waterfall/, picnic pavilion, swimming pool/lake - also home to one breaststroke world record holder--a state-of-the art fitness center (dedicated to weightlifting), two tennis courts (/ doubles court only), four basketball courts (/ 3 court only) as well as running tracks and five golf courses (/ 5 course only)). As part of the Atlanta metropolitan area, residents have access to job training programs from nearby Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport including apprenticeship through Second Chance Enterprises corps de travail . There are also numerous cultural attractions nearby such as Centennial Olympic Park which offers horseback riding、canoeing、rowing、gardening etc., while Philips Arena offers concerts featuring artists like Lady Gaga■ along with activities for children like carpenters ■•along with several convenience stores such as Sam's Club

By 1944, the population of Pooler had decreased to 50 residents. However, due to World War II and other factors, the population ofpooler increased to around 200 by 1945. Since its founding,Pooler has been home to many notable people including: John Pooler Sr., Anna Pooler (1910-1999), Dr. Jules Rosenwald (1920-2006), and Congressman James Fenton (1893-1985). Some ofthe prominent buildings in Pooler include: Memorial Auditorium which served as the first public building inPooler and remained in use until 1978; Mrs. Joe Mayo's House which is still used as a family organ shop; and Grady High School which has been home to many famous athletes such as basketball player Julius Erving and football player Terry Bradshaw
