Perry knife company was founded in 1907 by J.W. Perry and his wife, Lillie. The company produced a variety of knives including Bowie style folders, hunters, and sportswomen knives. In 1916 the company moved to its current location on Dawson Street in Perry. In 1965 the company became a subsidiary of Schwann Cutlery Company which continued to produce the brand until 1984 when it merged with Wusthof Cutlery Company.
Perry is a small town in Georgia. The population was 9,387 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Perry County. The land that makes up Perry County was first settled by Cherokee Indians in the early 1800s. In 1827, Perry was founded when two men, John Fenton and James Hargrave, bought 1,000 acres (400 hectares) of land in what is now Perry County from the Cherokees. The history of Perry can be traced back to 1829 when Isaac Perkins donated 4 cows to start a school in the town. In 1850, John Southerland built a sawmill on the banks of the Chattahoochee River near present-day Perrysburg. At this time, it was one of only a few mills in what is now Georgia and Alabama. By 1861, however, most of southeast Alabama had been taken over by Union forces during the Civil War and all cotton production had ceased in southeastern Alabama except for some small holdings within Perry County. In 1865, following Reconstruction following Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, many African Americans were brought into eastern Georgia as slaves and began to settle along the Chattahoochee River Valley east of Atlanta. This area became known as “The Black Belt” because so many blacks were concentrated there while white people fled to northern states during Reconstruction era times when they were considered criminals or freebooters trying to take advantage of black people who were still living under slaveownership conditions. John Southerland continued business operations until his death in 1887 and his son Cyrus took over running it until 1893 when he also died unmarried; Opie succeeded him as managing director until 1912 when he also died unmarried leaving it wholly with Cyrus’ widow Maud steeling it until her husband’s death in 1934; finally Mrs Steeling took over management from 1936 until her own retirement in 1961 which ended any chance for succession after her husband's death without children being born to continue running it concurrent with their mother's retirement age

Perry is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia. It was founded in 1837 by Captain John Perry and his wife Esther. The first post office in the town was established in 1840. In 1886, Perry had a population of just under 100 people; by 1990, that number had grown to over 1,200. The town experienced a significant growth spurt during the early 20th century as industries like cotton ginning and shoe manufacturing relocated to the area. A local bank became one of the largest banks in Georgia by 1920. The town's fortunes began to decline during World War II as its residents were forced to support the war effort through rationing and wartime taxes. However, since then, Perry has seen sporadic growth with modest population increases until recent years when it has reached 2,500 people. Despite this recent uptick in population growth, much of what sets Perry apart from other rural towns is its unique history which can be found nowhere else on the continent. The earliest settler in Perry was Capt John Perry who arrived in 1837 with his family from Maryland on horseback after hearing about land available for sale east of Atlanta (then known as Troupville). He purchased 640 acres of land comprising present day Georgian Bayou along with some adjoining tracts from James DunbarDunbar and others at an auction held at Ebenezer Church on October 15th that year following Discovery of America . On November 6th 1830 Capt John married Esther Broughton who also came from Maryland butsettled near Decatur County GA prior to 1837 when she gave birth to daughter Sarah Ann . On April 3rd 1833 Capt John’s father-in-law Elisha Covington died leaving behind him two children: John Covington (born about 1799) & Martha Elizabeth “Peggy” Broughton born about 1800 living adjacent their parents home until her death circa 1860 @ age 84yrs old still residing thereabouts today John Pearsons son Isaac born about 1798 moved away approx 1850 due to prosperities within state
Perry, Georgia was first settled in 1785 by British forces during the American Revolution. The town and surrounding area were named after General James Perry, who fought against the British in that war. In 1802, the town was renamed Atlanta after Alexander Macon, a general in the Mexican-American War. The city was incorporated as a city on December 3, 1847.
