The primary industries in Perry are agriculture (mainly crops), construction materials, transportation services, and retail trade. There are also some small businesses that focus on environmental-friendly activities or creating arts and crafts around the community center or selling local produce.

Perry is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. Perry was founded in 1837 and named for General George Washington Perry. It became an incorporated town on December 1, 1859. In 1913 the name change to Perry after Lieutenant Governor of Georgia John Witherspoon Perry. The first settler in what is now Perry was Alpheus Gentry who came to the area in 1837 with his family from Faubourg Saint-Louis, Louisiana. Gentry built a cabin on the banks of the Chattahoochee River and started farming operations around this time. He and his wife had two children before he died in 1840. One son, James Gentry Jr., took over his father's farm following his death and continued growing crops and raising livestock until 1861 when he sold it to William Folsom who then donated it to the town of Perry. In 1865 LtGov John Witherspoon Perry sent a delegation from Athens to investigate reports that there were gold mines near Atlanta; they found no gold but did find ore worth processing near their location which led to the founding of nearby Worth County by men from Athens looking for new land for their businesses during Reconstruction era (1865-1877). When Worth County was formed in 1865 its boundaries changed so much that most of today's eastern Fulton County including parts of present day Perry lay within Worth County at one point or another during this time period.- thus most people living there would have been considered part of either Worth or Peoria Counties as those counties were created specifically during that time period.– also note that Liberty Hill – located just east of downtown – would have been part of Peoria County back then too! In 1870 JB Frick built a gristmill on which local farmers ran off flour into Atlanta for sale back then; he operated it until 1902 when it burned down due to lightning damage.– since Grissom Road runs adjacent to where the mill once stood, you can still see evidence of it today! In 1871 cotton gin pioneer Elijah White established a small post office here under the name "Cottonopolis" because he could not get service out west– later renamed "Perry". However this post office closed down shortly after its establishment because Methodists refused to accept Christian missionaries as postal employees.– Perrys first store opened here however too soon due largely to competition from other stores operating out west– frontier days indeed! By 1899 only 2% percentof Atlantans lived within 5 milesOf any city limits while 95% lived outside any urban limits.– even back then Atlantans had pretty high standards! One resident who did make it big though was Julius Axelrod who got involved with real estate development early on in Perrys history……………………………………….. jaxon@coxcom
Perry was a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, at the intersection of GA Highway 20 and US 1. The post office was established in 1868, and the first store opened in 1870. In 1881, Perry had a school and three churches. In 1896, Perry had a population of 95 people. It declined to 50 people by 1910, but increased to 100 by 1920. It decreased again to 80 by 1930. In 1940, Perry had a population of 30 people.
