In 1990 peaches became nationally famous due to their production at DeKalb County's New Hope peach farm; this led to increased tourism which has funded many local civic projects such as new roads and city hall since then[7]. In recent decades much development has taken place outside the city limits including: Midtown Gwinnett Business Park off Dixie Hwy 421 just east of Interstate 85; upcoming neighborhoods including Medical Center Village off Interstate 285 north of I-85; NorthPark Shopping Center on US-27 southwest of I-285; Druid Hills – a planned mixed-use development adjacent to Chamblee High School which will include a arena/conference center/ convention center/ movie theater complex/ theme park; Tyson's Corner Plaza – also announced as future development – off I-285 between State Route 6058 and SR 6059 just west of Alpharetta Airport; [and] many smaller strip malls dotting Ga.- Atlantica Parkway corridor
