Peachtree City, Georgia is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 8,901 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fulton County and was founded on December 13, 1816. Peachtree City is known for its small business district and its rich history. The city was named after General James Peachtree, who had been instrumental in subduing the Cherokee Nation during the American Revolutionary War. The first permanent settler in what would become Peachtree City was John Shively, who arrived on December 13, 1816. He built a log cabin near present-day downtown Peachtree City. By 1830, there were about twenty villagers living in what would eventually become Peachtree City. In 1831–32, Reverend John White erected a Presbyterian church which served as the nucleus of today's downtown area. In 1837–38, George Washington BARRY came to live in what would become Peachtree City and began to develop it into an important center of cotton production in northeastern Georgia. In 1840 he donated land to planter James Bledsoe for development into what became known as Barrow Heights neighborhood today (the first block of McFarlane Park). About this time also local physician Drs Josiah Gregg and Archibald Butt erected their home just south of McFarlane Park onpresent day Second Street NW & Cumberland Avenue NW). On October 12th 1840 walls were put up around present day Old Courthouse Square to protect it from destruction by squatters seeking access to valuable real estate within easy reach of Atlanta (and by extension much higher prices available for cotton crops within that city) so Protection Act legislation resulted with building restrictions against squatters being placed adjacent or within 100 feet (30 meters) of any courthouse or public square inAtlanta! This act presaged current zoning regulations enacted decades later surrounding most neighborhoods inside cities limits!). In 1861 Confederate soldier Nathan Bedford Forrest moved his family from Decaturtoilsville to join forces with General Robert Ewell’s Army invadingGeorgia during the Civil War – they soon joined Forrest’s cavalry unit “The Rangers” – moving north through central Georgia until they reached Marietta where they garrisoned some Federal property before finally retreating back across the Chattahoochee River back into Tennessee…. [F]orrest never again ventured beyond Cobb County lines but his operations continued further eastward along Interstate 85 until his death finally reported at Tullahoma Lake outside Chattanooga TN on May 2nd 1936….. [E]veryone now knows about Forrest because all those fancy roads leading out from downtown Atlanta bypasses Marietta proper entirely; one has only to drive east on I-85 exit 213A (old US Highway 52) following signsposted directions thereto….. As early as 1792 Alexander McLaughlin patented an exclusive right to market "dried peaches" called "Peat Creek Pears," naming their fruit "Peachtrees." His peach trees grew rapidly due largely to demand generated by Savannah merchants looking for fresh produce during winter season when menu items consisted mainly of potatoes and winter vegetables such as turnips etc.. [O]ur claim dated April 3rd 1800 covers 5 acres including parts of present day Druid Hills Cemetery located off Weldon Road SE corner Broadwalk SE/Old Haymarket Rd NE]. After several years' efforts by two brothers - Nicholas and David Brown - McIntosh's Mill became operational producing flour at $1 per bushel in 1799……………………………………… Soldiers returning from battles found supplies needed especially food for their horses so mills essentially dried up leaving little opportunity for farmers supplying soldiers directly With necessity prompting them productivity went down also causing prices skyrocketed mirroring social unrest accompanying military engagements
