During their time as subsidiaries of other companies, Jernigan Oil & Gas Company built some very impressive facilities including a refinery and gas station on what is now US-1 south of Norcross Boulevard.
Norcross is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 21,865 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Norcross Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Norcross began as a small Creek village on the Chattahoochee River about two miles northeast of present-day Norcross. A post office and grocery store were built there in 1854; the first postmaster was Isaac Ladd. By 1860, Norcross had become an established town with three churches and a school. In 1865, John Smeal moved from Chattanooga to start his own cotton farm here, which soon acquired substantial acreage and growth continued apace until World War II when most of what is now downtown Norross came under development for military housing barracks and other purposes. In 1907–08, local entrepreneur Julius Rosenwald donated land east of downtown for what would become Braves Field (now SunTrust Park). The stadium's first game occurred on October 6th 1908 against Pittsburg St., but it wasn't until 1913 that Braves home games started being played there amidst much fanfare due to President Woodrow Wilson's visit toAtlanta during that year's Olympic Games (the only time such events took place in Atlanta at that time). What followed were some seminal years for Atlantans as they experienced one of their largest professional sports leagues: The National Football League (NFL) arrived in 1920 with its relocated Boston Bulldogs; Norcross residents qualified by voting themselves into team territories throughout league headquarters' many relocation hearings across America during this period†† (* Note: Many NFL teams today are located outside urban areas within commuting distances from major metropolitan areas such as Jacksonville or Tampa Bay.) For the 1922 season opener against Cleveland (the then world champion), Braves fans packed up their belongingsacks and headed westward down SR-1*‡ to Cobb county where they'd spend four days living ††(*Note: Some people also credit Braves owner Joe Cronin with helping get NFL expansion announced back then – see Cronin timeline below*) After finishing second in both divisionsal play in 1923 (!), Falcons owner Jimmy Haslams traded his club’s future to United Archers president Harry Sinclair late into the 1924 season so he could purchase second divisioner Decatur Staleys; head coach Babe Parilli led Decatur all the way to a 10-3 victory over eventual NFL champions Detroit Lions at Dooley Stadium just prior to Thanksgiving Day 1926 [*Note: This article erroneously lists 1925 as Falcons' first season ever.] However, poor attendance led Haslams once again move Atlanta Hawks ownership closer geographically speaking towards Morehouse College[§] following USF hiring astronomer Arthur Ashe as head football coach at age 38 after serving six seasons coaching high school athletes from Duluth Ga.;[¶] Moreover – though he’d later admit it [after becoming vice president], having Crane manage things [at USF] may have been responsible for some very early White Sox drafts which likely helped lead us [to our current location!] In 1933 Norcross became home field for newly formed American Professional Football Association (APPFA) side Alabamians*§ [* Note: App FA stands for American Professional Football Association - predecessor organization to modern day NFC South Alliance]. There would be no more regular APFA action until 1945 when adjacent Cobb county south of town achieved borough status thereby giving its citizens full access rights enjoyed by norrighters today who still make Tax Day their annual observance by marching down ALA Turnpike right past City Hall avenue *‡(* Note: Some people also credit former Atlantan mayor James Meeks with helping get NFL Expansion Announced Back Then – see Meeks timeline below*) Finally! Here is a brief history of some of the more famous hard gun cases in history: In 1847, John Ball had an experience that would change his life. He was working as a law enforcement officer in Oregon when he happened to find a trunk filled with firearms belonging to Mexican bandits. Ball was able to track down and arrest the bandits, saving many lives in the process. In 1859, Solomon Northrup opened a firearms dealership in Detroit, Michigan. His store quickly became known for its high-quality firearms and accessories. One of Northrup's customers was Major John Wilkes Booth, who purchased two revolvers from him. The next year, Booth killed President Abraham Lincoln at Ford Theater with one of Northrup's guns. This case led to much public outcry against handguns and made it illegal for anyone under 21 years old to purchase any new firearms without a dealer's permission. In 1896, William Hickey opened his Second Amendment Gun Shop on State Street in Worcester MA.. Hickey became known for selling quality American made handguns including those used by James Calhoun Jr., alias "the Clipper," during the American Civil War (1861-1865).calhoun was wanted by Confederate forces for treasonously smuggling arms into Kentucky through Bostonport Harbor

According to the 2010 United States Census Bureau report,[1] Norcross has a total area of , all land.[2] As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 6,521 people residing in Norcross Proper; 5% were black or African American, 0% Hispanic or Latino*, 9% white race only*, 2% Asian or Pacific Islander*, 2% from two or more races* (of any race), and 100% native English speakers.* *The percentage may not reflect all totals because certain groups (elderly citizens living alone) are not included in censuses
